Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier eGuide Essentials Introduction

Ghost Team: Hunter

Ghost Team: Hunter

  • Based out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina
  • All personnel assigned to the group (soldiers and dedicated support crew) live together in a closed and secure compound within Ft. Bragg. Everything they need, from banking to groceries to schools for their children are provided within the compound
  • Can be deployed anywhere in the world within 18 hours

Created as a Special Mission Unit (and initially formed from the members of the 5th Special Forces Group, D Company) this specialized force has unique authority and ability to deploy anywhere in the world, in order to protect US and Allied interests. The unit’s reputation for getting the job done and leaving no trace followed them from 5th SFG, as did their nickname …“The Ghosts.”

Team Dynamic

Ghost Lead

  • Rank: Captain
  • Name: Cedrick Ferguson
  • Age: 38
  • Height: 6’ 2”
  • Weight: 185 lbs
  • Build: Long and lanky
  • Hair Color: Black
  • Eye Color: Brown
  • Birthplace: Minneapolis, MN
  • Ethnicity: African-American
  • Accent: Slight Midwestern
  • Languages Spoken: Arabic, Some Farsi
  • Reason for Joining the Military: Father and uncles all served; it was the expected career in his family.
  • Reason for Joining the Ghosts: Exemplary service record and skills led him naturally to Special Forces; it’s where he feels he can do the most good.
  • Attitude Toward the Enemy: Everything the Ghosts do is part of a larger whole. Fight the right battle today and you might not have to fight one tomorrow.

Captain Ferguson is the kind of leader that every team wants, the one who keeps a clear head even in the midst of chaos. He’s decisive, executes with precision, and has a long record of doing just the right thing at just the right time. His cool under fire inspires the utmost confidence in his team. He knows when to push and when to push back, and ultimately commands the respect of all those around him, whether friend or foe.

30K

  • Rank: Sergeant First Class
  • Name: James “Jimmy” Grant Ellison
  • Age: 28
  • Height: 5’ 9”
  • Weight: 190 lbs
  • Build: Stocky
  • Hair Color: Dirty blond
  • Eye Color: Blue
  • Birthplace: Alma, AR
  • Ethnicity: Caucasian
  • Accent: Southern
  • Languages Spoken: English, enough Spanish to get by
  • Reason for Joining the Military: It was that or work at the feed lot, and the pay in the Army was a hell of a lot better.
  • Reason for Joining the Ghosts: “Big Army” pay wasn’t as good as he’d been told, and damned if he was going to let some precious city kids outdo him during selection. The challenge of training earned his respect, and now he’s genuinely proud of the unit and its accomplishments.
  • Attitude Toward the Enemy: They must’ve done something wrong, or else he wouldn’t have to be out in Godforsakenstan killing them.

Ellison head butts what he doesn’t understand. He’s always been an up-front-in-your-face guy whose only interest is getting done whatever it is that needs doing. He’s the rowdy best friend you don’t want in the bar, but you rely on in the bar fight. He’s fearless in offering opinions, regardless of rank or etiquette. Although he tends to be one of the most aggressive Ghosts, he’s not reckless, and his willingness to stand up and go toe-to-toe with the enemy has gotten the team out of enough tough spots that they forgive him the few he got them into.

Pepper

  • Rank: Master Sergeant
  • Name: Robert Bonifacio
  • Age: 39
  • Height: 6’ 0”
  • Weight: 195 lbs
  • Build: Average
  • Hair Color: Salt-and-pepper
  • Eye Color: Hazel
  • Birthplace: Stephenville, TX
  • Ethnicity: Half-Latino
  • Accent: None
  • Languages Spoken: Fluent in Spanish
  • Reason for Joining the Military: Thought he’d do a hitch and use the GI Bill to go to college; instead became a lifer.
  • Reason for Joining the Ghosts: Had no particular ambition toward going Special Forces but was approached about it so many times he finally went for it; never looked back.
  • Attitude Toward the Enemy: They’re just people who’ve made some poor choices in life, the worst of which was trying to kill him.

Bonifacio has been there, put holes in that. Whatever just happened, he’s seen it before and the other time was worse. Pepper is the Old Man, and everyone treats him accordingly. His advice is valuable, even if you have to endure the story that goes with it, and his marksmanship is legendary. His team leads rely on him to give the worst-case breakdown of any of their plans, and he has a good eye for where things can (and will) go wrong. Jokes are rare, except for the one about being “two days from retirement” whenever a mission starts going south.

Kozak

  • Rank: Staff Sergeant
  • Name: John Dmitri Kozak
  • Age: 26
  • Height: 6’ 1”
  • Weight: 180 lbs
  • Build: Slightly thin
  • Hair Color: Shaved
  • Eye Color: Blue
  • Birthplace: Brooklyn, NY (Little Odessa)
  • Ethnicity: Russian-American
  • Accent: A little Russian, a little Brooklyn
  • Languages Spoken: Russian, Spanish
  • Reason for Joining the Military: First generation Russian-American, extremely patriotic and has a keen sense of “being American.”
  • Reason for Joining the Ghosts: Wants to be the best of the best. The Ghosts are the best unit, so he wants to be a part of it—and someday lead it.
  • Attitude Toward the Enemy: The thing to remember is that the other guy thinks he’s the hero, too.

Kozak hacks security faster than you text. He’s either the most badass nerd, or nerdiest badass you’ve ever met. He’s got two loves: technology and the USA. Like most young bucks, he’s eager to prove that he belongs on the team, and though he sometimes seems to be making it up as he goes along, he’s pulled it off too many times to just be lucky. His unorthodox nature and willingness to improvise sometimes rub his more conservative teammates the wrong way, but there’s no doubt he brings a unique skill set to the team. He tends to talk more than he should, and sometimes argues points into oblivion. For the most part, the other Ghosts look out for him like a kid brother … unless he’s brought something on himself, in which case he gets to learn things the hard way.
