Infiltrate the Prison
About a third of the legitimate Russian government has been liquidated or “shot trying to escape.” Raven’s Rock is keeping the rest on ice in prisons around the country. They’re keeping President Volodin alive until they can trot him out to legitimize the new government. But the Resistance needs Volodin, too. Once General Douka takes back Moscow, the Loyalists need Volodin to help restore the government. Kozak is on his own for this mission; he is tasked with breaking President Volodin out of prison. Performing a High Altitude-Low Opening (HALO) jump, Kozak covertly inserts by air, reaching the outskirts of the Siberian prison where President Volodin is being held. Overlord advises that alerts must be avoided until the prison’s security system is isolated.
A lone rifleman patrols the area near the insertion point. Sneak up behind him and perform a stealth kill. Melee kills like this are essential if you want to complete the Hands On Tactical challenge, which requires you to infiltrate the prison without firing a shot. However, not every enemy needs to die. Whenever possible, avoid contact. The discovery of dead bodies by patrols can result in a alert, instantly making the mission a failure. So before you kill an enemy, think twice. It’s often much easier to slip by undetected with the aid of your Optical Camo. If you do kill an enemy, you’ll need to take out all nearby enemies to prevent anyone from finding a dead body.
Creep up the nearby hill, moving toward the prison. Take cover near one of the shipping containers and deploy the UAV to locate two riflemen and a sniper patrolling nearby. Exit the UAV view and leave the drone hovering over the hill, so it can monitor the enemy movements. These enemy troops are spread out, so they are easy to take out with stealth kills. Or, you can simply slip past them and proceed to the prison’s entrance. But if you do kill one of these enemies, take out all three to prevent a body from being discovered. Since this is a night mission, Kozak is equipped with Night Vision Goggles (NVGs). In addition to the UAV hovering overhead, the NVGs come in handy for highlighting enemy heat signatures in the darkness. Using the NVGs in combination with the UAV and Sensors is the best way to identify threats around you.
Descend the hill and approach the left side of the prison’s gate. As expected, there are multiple riflemen nearby, including some posted in guard towers. Fly your UAV toward the entrance so it can monitor the enemies while you sneak into the prison. Exit the UAV view and begin moving toward the gate. Stay on the far left side of the entrance to avoid being detected by the rifleman standing near the checkpoint booth—he’s looking right at you! But as long as you keep your Optical Camo active and move slowly, he won’t detect you. Just beyond the checkpoint are two more riflemen patrolling near the road. Stay on the left side of the road and wait for the riflemen to move away before slipping past them. Once you have moved beyond the two patrolling riflemen, recall your UAV and proceed to the waypoint marker leading into one of the prison’s administrative buildings. You can deactivate your NVGs once you’re inside.
Administrative Offices
Overlord reports that you can now hack into the prison’s security system. Enter the automatic door on the left side and advance through a series of corridors until you come to a room with an open floor-level vent. Time to deploy the UAV. Land the UAV near the vent and enter Crawler mode. Drive the Crawler through the lengthy ductwork until it comes to a room with a pair of consoles that is marked with a waypoint. Move the drone to the base of these two consoles and emit a sonic pulse. This fries the electronics in the consoles, causing the nearby door to open. Follow a series of waypoints through the corridors of the administrative building until you exit, emerging outside on the prison grounds.
