Referred to as Madame de Fer, “the Lady of Iron,” Vivienne lives up to her title. A leader among the mages and official enchanter to the Imperial court, she is renowned as a fearsome woman who achieved her position through guile and deft political maneuvering. Vivienne allows nothing to stand in the way of what she desires—not those who claim she is a social climber, not those who seek to restrict her power, not even her fellow mages who would conscript her into a rebellion with which she disagrees. Vivienne fights to restore order in a world gone mad...so long as that leaves her among those left standing, once all is said and done.
Specialization
Knight-Enchanter: Whether it’s high fashion or the battlefield, Vivienne prefers to be at the forefront and in control of everything around her. She will personally see order restored—by the blade, if necessary.
First Encounter
During your first visit to Val Royeaux, seek out a Circle mage messenger to receive an invitation, unlocking the quest The Imperial Enchanter. This invite allows your party to travel to the chateau of Duke Bastien de Ghyslain, where you meet Vivienne. As the leader of the last loyal mages of Thedas, she feels compelled to join the Inquisition—accept her request to add Vivienne as a party member.
Approval
Vivienne cannot be romanced, but she holds strong opinions, which can lead to major swings in approval depending on your conversation options and actions. She has a strong need for order and discipline. As such, instability caused by the Breach is a major concern. In addition to sealing the Breach, she wants the mage rebellion crushed and the Circle restored to power. Nothing more, nothing less. She is also very skeptical of Cole and Morrigan’s true intentions.
Approval Gained
- At Redcliffe Castle, conscript the mages.
- At Therinfal Redoubt, ally with the templars.
- Say you’ll be a “servant of faith” when made Inquisitor.
- Say you’ll “set an example as a mage” when made Inquisitor.
- Exile the Wardens after securing Adamant.
- Drink from the Well of Sorrows at the Temple of Mythal.
Approval Lost
- At Redcliffe Castle, ally with the mages.
- At Therinfal Redoubt, disband the templars.
- Allow the Wardens to join the Inquisition after securing Adamant.
