Gloomier than the Storm Coast,Crestwood clings to life in the aftermath of a great tragedy, but a new tragedy is forming in the dark waters of the neighboring lake. When the darkspawn struck all of Ferelden during the last Blight 10 years ago, the village took in refugees from fallen territories. Unfortunately, the darkspawn took control of the local dam, flooding Old Crestwood and killing the refugees and many of the town’s citizens. Since then the village has tried to eke out a meager existence further uphill from the flooded ruins, but the glow of a Fade rift from under the lake has caused the dead to rise, and demons lead them in a charge on the weary survivors. It is clear that Crestwood will not last long without help, and yet even the Grey Wardens are unable to spare a single man.
The Inquisition has its own purpose here in Crestwood. It seeks a rogue Grey Warden by the name of Stroud, who claims he has information regarding the disappearance of the Wardens all across Thedas. The Inquisition may also be the only force that can save the beleaguered town in time. Doing so, however, will mean unearthing an old secret deep beneath the lake...

Crestwood is where a great many things about Corypheus and his influence on world events begin to reveal their true extent. It is possible to continue forward with the story and ignore Crestwood’s plight after you’ve met Stroud. However, there are many benefits to exploring this locale. Cave systems filled with treasure and resources await the hardy and brave adventurer. For the strongest men and women on Thedas, a high dragon, the Northern Hunter, claims this land as her own. This is an excellent place for the Inquisitor to build skills in preparation for the battles that lie ahead. All of the major side quests in this locale are best experienced around level 10 through 12. The high dragon, however, should be challenged by a party of level 13 or higher.
