The Hissing Wastes is a stretchof sandy desert north of the Western Approach, a lonely place where the wildlife is hungry and hostile. Among the hungriest and most hostile are the dragons that make their nests here. The rare person wandering into the wastes is either hunting prized beasts or hoping to uncover evidence of a long-vanished civilization in the dunes.

The Hissing Wastes are brutal, and the wildlife has no sympathy for anyone who is unprepared. The wastes are massive, easily the largest locale you’ve visited across all of Thedas. They are also home to dwarven ruins, filled with things that the Venatori and the red templars want. This means that the Inquisition wants them even more.
While there are few quests in the Hissing Wastes compared the neighboring Western Approach, the daunting size of the place makes getting around time-consuming, even on the fastest of mounts. Even then, expect to get unseated by the local wildlife, and expect to do a lot of fighting. Despite the looks, the wastes are a Venatori stronghold for all intents and purposes, and they are on the lookout for you specifically.
