Dragon Age Inquisition eGuide Exploration Forbidden Oasis

Side Quests (Recommended Level 8-12, 5-15, and 18-20)

1: Shard Collector

Quest Giver: Collect a shard from any locale in Thedas to start this quest.

Description: A strange shard has been discovered. It appears to be of ancient origin and may be part of a larger set. Further study could reveal more.

Requirements: Collect a shard to unlock this quest, then spend four power at the war table to research the shards. This war table mission needs to be completed in order to access the Forbidden Oasis.

Reward: Open the Forbidden Oasis.

Objectives:

Investigate shards at the war table (four power required).

Travel to the Forbidden Oasis.

2: Holding the Oasis

Description: Establish camps to hold the Forbidden Oasis and support Inquisition activity in the region.

Quest Giver: Scout Harding

Requirements: Started as soon as you arrive in Forbidden Oasis

Reward: 50 Influence and 1 Power per camp, except for the starting camp

Objectives:

Establish two camps.

With only two camps in the area, including the one you start with, traveling around the Forbidden Oasis requires you to get familiar with the winding pathways and interconnected tunnels. Reaching the camp down in the oasis itself can be somewhat challenging, but as long as you follow any ramps that take you to the canyons (and avoid detours), you can make a pretty straight shot at the second camp.

3: The Temple of Pride

Quest Giver: Scout Harding

Description: The entrance to a mysterious temple the ancient elves called Solasan stands tall, foreboding, and sealed in the middle of the Forbidden Oasis. It seems to have some connection to strange shards scattered across Thedas.

Requirements: Unlock the Forbidden Oasis via the war table using four power after finding your first shards and completing the research war table missions. Arrive at Forbidden Oasis for the first time to begin this quest.

Reward: 354 XP, 200 Influence, 2 Power

Objectives:

Find the door to Solasan.

After you find your first shards and complete the necessary research that leads the Inquisition to the Forbidden Oasis, your first major side quest is simply to reach the front entrance of the temple. From the oasis camp, travel north to the Intrinsic Pool and make a right. A small mine shaft is blocked off by wooden barriers that a warrior can kick through. Follow this tunnel up and make a left at the T junction to arrive directly at the front door to the temple.

Alternatively, you can reach the temple from a desert entrance on the eastern side of the canyon. This takes you right past an ocularum, which can be used as a landmark for you to help find this passage, which is the same tunnel that the oasis mine shaft leads to.

The door to the temple is sealed and will not budge unless you have acquired six shards. If you haven’t already found six shards, there are oculara in the oasis that can let you get enough shards to unseal the temple. Opening the door completes the quest.

4: What It’s Worth

Quest Giver: A miner wandering the canyons in the oasis

Description: A former miner is salvaging valuables in the Forbidden Oasis. She mentioned an old wedding ring, but the cave where she once stored supplies has been overrun with spiders.

Requirements: Available upon arrival in the Forbidden Oasis

Reward: 242 XP, 80 Influence

Objectives:

Retrieve the ring.

Return the ring to the miner.

Wandering the canyons is a former miner, in search of old equipment that can be salvaged from the oasis. Speak with her to learn that she’s looking for a wedding ring she left behind for reasons she’s not willing to divulge. Whatever they are, she wants the ring back regardless. Unfortunately, the cave in question is infested with giant spiders, and she can’t deal with so many by herself.

Par’as Cavern, where the miner claims she stored the ring, is in the Stratos region, on the eastern side of the Forbidden Oasis. A note found outside the cavern claims a torch will either scatter or draw in the spiders. Not exactly reassuring.

Across the room from the cavern entrance sits a locked door that requires a key. Do not run haphazardly across the room to that door unless you can handle a swarm of level 12-15 spiders! Instead, work your way around the room, lighting the torches. This makes the spider threat somewhat manageable. Push your way into the spider holes on the east and west sides of the room, exterminating the eight-legged freaks to reach the treasures they guard. Among the chests they protected will be the wedding ring. Return it to the owner to complete the quest.

5: The Door in Par’as Cavern

Quest Giver: The miner wandering the canyons. Alternatively, inspect the locked door in Par’as Cavern to start the quest.

Description: There is a locked door in Par’as Cavern.

Requirements: You must complete What It’s Worth to gain the key for the door in Par’as Cavern.

Reward: 44 XP, 40 Influence

Objectives:

Find a key to the door.

Open the door.

Grateful for your return of her ring, the miner hands over her key to the locked door inside Par’as Cavern. Return to the cavern and unlock the door to complete this quest and gain access to the treasures it protected.

6: The Fire Captured

Quest Giver: Fire door inside Solasan

Description: An eerie heat emanates from a locked door within the temple.

Requirements: Gain access to Solasan as part of the Temple of Pride side quest.

Reward: 1,656 XP, 480 Influence, 5 Power

Objectives:

Gather 6 shards.

Open the first door.

Gather 12 shards.

Open the second door.

Gather 18 shards.

Open the final door.

The three elemental doors inside Solasan lead to chambers filled with monsters, gold, and a coffin filled with treasure, as well as magic that enhances your natural resistance toward a type of elemental damage. Each coffin you open boosts that elemental resistance by 4, 6, and 10 points, respectively. As you might guess, going down the fire path will help boost your fire resistance, the frost path builds up your frost resistance, and the spirit path enhances that resistance.

Each path has three doors to unlock, and the monsters behind each door become progressively more challenging. Additionally, elemental glyphs mark the floors of the treasure chambers, acting like land mines that deal damage based on the theme of the elemental path.

The first door offers monsters around level 7 and 8.

The second door reveals a room with monsters at level 9 and 10...

...and the final door stands between you and a chamber filled with level 12 to 15 demons, including a rage demon in the fire route.

7: The Spirit Calmed

Quest Giver: Spirit door inside Solasan

Description: An earthy smell emanates from a locked door within the temple.

Requirements: Gain access to Solasan as part of the Temple of Pride side quest.

Reward: 1,656 XP, 480 Influence, 5 Power

Objectives:

Gather 6 shards.

Open the first door.

Gather 12 shards.

Open the second door.

Gather 18 shards.

Open the final door.

Like the Fire Captured doors, the Spirit Calmed doors follow the same shard requirements and have the same setup for monsters and traps you’ll face inside each treasure chamber. The demon in control of the final room is an arcane horror, so be prepared to deal with its lethal ranged magic blasts.

8: The Cold Endured

Quest Giver: Frost door inside Solasan

Description: An unnatural cold emanates from a locked door within the temple.

Requirements: Gain access to Solasan as part of the Temple of Pride side quest.

Reward: 1,656 XP, 480 Influence, 5 Power

Objectives:

Gather 6 shards.

Open the first door.

Gather 12 shards.

Open the second door.

Gather 18 shards.

Open the final door.

The Cold Endured doors again follow the same setup seen in the other two elemental paths. Your final threat in the third treasure chamber is a horde of undead, led by a dreadfully powerful revenant. Bring mages with powerful fire staves to quickly put down this monster before it becomes a problem.

9: A Prideful Place

Quest Giver: Open all fire, spirit, and frost doors in Solasan to be given this quest automatically.

Description: The door at the heart of the temple has opened.

Requirements: All nine doors in the first three elemental paths must be opened.

Reward: 5,076 XP, 600 Influence, 2 Power

Objectives:

Discover what lies within.

You may have noticed on repeat visits to the temple that a door in the front chamber has had a series of lights appearing in an arch over it, corresponding with the number of doors you have opened in other paths. Once all nine are open, this final door opens, revealing the final challenge of Solasan.

Entering the final chamber, you will encounter a pride demon and four skeleton archers, all standing strong at level 19. Surrounding them all is a set of lightning glyphs, which make approaching the enemy a challenge. The glyphs appear in random patterns, designed to scatter your party. Rip apart the archers as fast as you can, then focus on the pride demon.

The final coffin opened in the temple provides your Inquisitor with 20 additional lightning resistance. With this, the temple of Solasan has been fully cleared!
