If you speak with one of the librarians in the Skyhold library, you’ll hear about how 48 copies of Hard in Hightown are missing from the shelves, checked out by residents of the castle. You can find copies sitting alone, or in stacks of two or three. Stacks reappear between visits to Skyhold, so if you remember where you found a number of books, you can always recollect them to count toward your total.
8: Sit in Judgment
Quest Giver: Josephine
Description: Someone being held in Skyhold awaits judgment.
Requirements: Available anytime a prisoner is taken into the Inquisition’s custody
Reward: Varies
Objectives:
Judge the prisoner.
When the quest is available, interact with the throne to get an introduction to the process from Josephine. After this conversation, all future interactions with the throne will initiate a judgment. The number of judgments you can perform depends on how many enemies you’ve captured alive. Reference the following table for a listing of all possible judgments. Some of the prisoners can be conscripted into the Inquisition and serve as agents. Completing judgments unlocks new thrones.
Judgments
| Prisoner | Capture Locale | Unlock | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Avaar Tribesman | The Fallow Mire | Chasind Throne | In this lighthearted judgment, choose what to do with the Avaar tribesman captured in the Fallow Mire following the Lost Souls quest. |
| Alexius | Redcliffe Castle | — | If you took Alexius into custody at Redcliffe Castle, order him to research magic to make him an agent. |
| Knight-Captain Denam | Therinfal Redoubt | — | Following events at Therinfal Redoubt, you have the opportunity to judge Knight-Captain Denam. You can sentence him to death, imprison him, or turn him over to the uncorrupted templars. |
| Servis | Western Approach | — | Servis is always taken as a prisoner following the fight in the Western Approach. Recruit him as an informant to make him an Inquisition agent, serving under Leliana. |
| Mayor Dedrick | Crestwood | Ferelden Throne | After Still Waters in Crestwood, complete the Find Crestwood’s Mayor operation on the war table to track down Dedrick and bring him to justice. He had a good reason for flooding the old village, but were his actions justified? You can have him executed, imprisoned, or exiled. |
| Erimond | Adamant | — | After Adamant, choose what to do with Erimond. You can imprison him, kill him, or make him tranquil. |
| Ser Ruth | Adamant | — | This Warden was under the spell of Corypheus and killed other Wardens at Adamant during a binding ritual. She requests the death sentence, but you can be more lenient. Consider turning her over to the Wardens to please Blackwall. |
| Grand Duchess Florianne (alive) | Halamshiral | — | If you took Florianne alive at Halamshiral, she’s brought back to Skyhold for judgment. You can’t have her executed, but there are other fitting punishments. |
| Grand Duchess Florianne (dead) | Halamshiral | — | If Florianne was killed at Halamshiral, you can judge her remains, contained within a wooden box. Sentence Florianne’s remains to community service to make her an agent working under Josephine. Politics—it’s complicated. |
| Thom Rainier | Val Royeaux | — | During the Blackwall’s Revelations inner circle quest, you can bring Thom Rainier back to Skyhold and judge him for his past crimes. |
| Mistress Poulin | Emprise du Lion | Orlesian Throne | Mistress Poulin must account for her business dealings with the red templars. There are numerous punishments, including death. But perhaps it would be most constructive if you ordered her to rebuild the town—Sera approves of this. |
| Samson | The Arbor Wilds | — | If you defeat Samson at the Temple of Mythal, he is brought back to Skyhold for judgment. If you avoid a conflict at the Temple of Mythal, you can track down Samson through an operation on the war table and take him into custody for judgment. |
