Like previous titles, Dragon Age: Inquisition requires you to make some tough decisions. These are handled through the conversation hub. Here you have the option of selecting a reply. Some of these choices have consequences, and others don’t. Each dialogue option is accompanied by an icon, indicating how your character will respond.

Approval
Choose your words and actions carefully—your followers are paying close attention to everything you say and do. Saying or doing the right/wrong thing can lead to a gain or loss of approval among your party members. Approval is basically your likability among the party members, and it’s a key component of initiating romances. While minor approval swings are common during conversations, major approval swings occur when making critical decisions—reference the Decision Point sidebars in the walkthrough. Once you’ve made a decision, there’s no turning back. And unless you’re using the walkthrough, you’ll be making these decisions blindly, not knowing how your approval with each character will be affected. So it’s strongly advised to review these decision points beforehand. Otherwise you may unintentionally sabotage a budding romance.

Romance
During some conversations with your followers and advisors, a romance dialogue option appears—take this opportunity to flirt, often gaining approval. But this is just the beginning. Continue flirting and building approval with a particular character to advance the relationship. However, consummating a relationship takes a lot more than staying out of the doghouse and delivering clever one-liners. Take the romance to the next level by completing inner circle quests for your romantic interest—some of these involve acquiring gifts you can use to the help seal the deal. When it comes to romance, persistence pays off, so keep chatting up your love interest on a regular basis—and do as little as possible to piss them off. Also, remember that race and gender make a difference, so don’t set your sights on a character you’re not compatible with.
