Introduction

The Exalted Plainsare steeped in conflict. Centuries ago, the elves of the Dales made their last stand here. More recently, the plains played host to some of the most heated conflicts of the Orlesian Civil War. Somehow, despite ages of unrest, the lands the elves call “Dirthavaren” retain a fragile beauty.

A juxtaposition of civil war and ancient history, the Exalted Plains do not need to be visited as part of the Inquisition’s journey to put an end to Corypheus, but the rewards for coming to this place are worth a visit or three. There is much to learn about the state of Orlais while traveling across these plains, and much in the way of resources to help prepare the Inquisition for the near future. The Exalted Plains are massive, in some places seemingly peaceful, but with devastation and demonic presence in others.

Of special note is an ancient underground temple, in the bog to the east of the front lines. Reaching it requires some extra work, but if the Inquisitor can solve the mystery of that ruin, something of worth may await.
