Titanfall eGuide Pilots

Pilot Tactical Abilities

Pilots have one Tactical Ability slot, giving them the ability to blend into their surroundings, increase speed and health regeneration, or detect enemies behind walls. Once assigned, these abilities are manually activated at a Pilot’s discretion, giving them a temporary advantage. But abilities only remain active for a few seconds before they must recharge. However, the Power Cell Tier 1 Kit helps these abilities to recharge at a quicker rate, allowing them to be deployed with greater frequency.

Tactical Ability

Cloak

Cloak makes you almost completely invisible to Titans and minions (Grunts, Spectres, and Marvins). However, it is not quite as effective against Pilots.

Ability Unlock: Level 1

Field Notes

  • When using this Tactical Ability, keep in mind that when you activate Cloak, you will lose your Cloak once you have fired a weapon. You are able to throw grenades and melee without losing the ability. A good time to use Cloak is when you are spotted by a Titan and want to make a clean getaway. The Cloak will immediately make you invisible and give you some time to retreat to cover. Keep in mind that Pilots are able to see the Cloak much easier than a Titan.
Pro Tip: StrongSide

A great time to use the Cloak Tactical Ability is when you want to rodeo attack an enemy Titan. This will allow you to sneak up on the enemy Titan and jump on!

Tactical Ability

Stim

Chemically derived from a Pilot’s own adrenaline, Stim boosts movement speed and health regeneration for a short period of time.

Ability Unlock: Level 8

Field Notes

  • This ability increases your Pilot’s speed, allowing you to do jumps that weren’t possible before. The extra speed also allows you to outwit your opponent and escape a losing battle. Stay around cover to always take full use of this ability. When an enemy engages you, activate the Stim ability to recover health while taking cover and then use the speed to outmaneuver the opponent.
Pro Tip: Flamesword

Always have an escape route in mind. Stim will allow you to escape a losing battle as your movement speed is increased. Think about double backing when escaping. Double backing is when you begin to run away and then you come back, catching your pursuer off guard. This takes practice—be sure to time when the opponent will begin to sprint and chase you, then double back and make them pay.

Tactical Ability

Active Radar Pulse

The Active Radar Pulse triggers a scan that allows you to see enemies through walls for a short amount of time.

Ability Unlock: Level 19

Field Notes

  • With a range of about 50 meters, the Active Radar Pulse allows you to plan the perfect route to catch nearby enemies off guard. When active, enemies appear on the HUD as red silhouettes, even if they’re hidden behind walls and other pieces of cover. Knowing where enemies are allows you to get the jump on them. This is best used in Capture the Flag or Hardpoint where you can find the nearby enemy Pilot and get a crucial kill that will lead to a capture. Although helpful in most situations, Active Radar Pulse is incapable of detecting an enemy Pilot using the Cloak ability.

Tier 1 Kits

Unlike the Tactical Abilities, Tier 1 Kits are passive, requiring no interaction on behalf of the Pilot to benefit from their bonuses. There are a total of six Tier 1 Kits, each with their own benefits. Before selecting one, take into account your other loadout selections and find a kit that complements them.

Tier 1 Kit

Enhanced Parkour Kit

The Enhanced Parkour Kit allows you to wall run and wall hang for increased periods of time.

Kit Unlock: Level 1

Field Notes

  • This kit allows you to maneuver throughout each map the way a Pilot is supposed to. Increased wall running allows you to get from point A to point B in seconds and evade pursuers if being chased. The increased wall hang will allow you to ambush enemies and catch foes by surprise.
Pro Tip: Flamesword

Become familiar with the Enhanced Parkour Kit. It will come in handy and save you in many situations. When being pursued, run off building tops and grab the wall before dropping. You can catch your pursuer jumping right past you, putting you in a better position to take them out. Be sure to let go of the wall once your pursuer passes you—aiming down your weapon’s sight is a lot more accurate than hip firing.

Tier 1 Kit

Explosives Pack

The Explosives Pack increases your ordnance ammo capacity as a Pilot.

Kit Unlock: Level 1

Field Notes

  • The Explosives Pack is extremely useful if you are a player who tosses a lot of grenades, mines, or Satchel Charges. This kit will give you one additional piece of ordnance, boosting your offensive capability.
Pro Tip: StrongSide

Using the Explosives Pack when equipping the Arc Grenade is extremely useful if you find yourself fighting Titans a lot. You’ll have three Arc Grenades to stun a Titan. First throw the Arc Grenade to stun the enemy Titan and then unload with your Anti-Titan weapon for about five seconds. Repeat this process with your other two Arc Grenades. You will have done a considerable amount of damage to the enemy Titan and, if you have a teammate assisting you during this fight, you’ll most likely kill the enemy Titan.

Tier 1 Kit

Power Cell

The Power Cell accelerates the recharging of your Pilot’s Tactical Ability.

Kit Unlock: Level 1

Field Notes

  • This reduces the recharge time of your Tactical Ability by about half. However, this is only an advantage if you use it consistently. First, get in the habit of always using your Tactical Ability when it is available. Once you find yourself needing your Stim, Cloak, or Active Radar Pulse a few seconds earlier, then you will be ready to use this effectively. This is strongest when coupled with the Active Radar Pulse since it shaves off a few vulnerable seconds where the opponent can sneak up on you.

Tier 1 Kit

Run N Gun Kit

The Run N Gun Kit allows you to fire small arms such as pistols and SMGs while sprinting.

Kit Unlock: Level 31

Field Notes

  • This kit allows players with SMGs and pistols to run through minions while keeping their speed, allowing them to traverse the map. Players can also chase down enemy Pilots while keeping their top speed and being able to fire at the same time. Its greatest use is when you can sprint from building to building while you engage the enemy.

Tier 1 Kit

Quick Reload Kit

The Quick Reload Kit accelerates the reload speeds of all your Pilot weapons.

Kit Unlock: Level 42

Field Notes

  • The Quick Reload Kit is exactly what is sounds like. This kit is especially effective with some of the powerful slow reloading weapons like the Kraber-AP Sniper and the Archer Heavy Rocket. Also, if you are a run and gun type of player, this is a great kit to stay in the action while decreasing the chances of getting caught off guard.

Tier 1 Kit

Stealth Kit

The Stealth Kit makes your footsteps silent, and makes your Jump Kit exhaust nearly invisible.

Kit Unlock: Level 48

Field Notes

  • The Stealth Kit comes in handy if you specialize in aggressive game play. The kit makes your footsteps silent, allowing you to creep on enemies and assassinate them. This kit also makes your Jump Kit less noticeable, allowing you to flank enemies more efficiently and escape as opponents will not be able to hear your movements.

Tier 2 Kits

The Tier 2 Kits function just like the Tier 1 Kits, offering greater variety and customization for your Pilot’s loadout. As with the Tier 1 Kits, carefully study the benefits of each, then select one that complements your overall loadout and style of play.

Tier 2 Kit

Dome-Shield Battery

This kit extends the duration of your Titan’s Dome-Shield after Titanfall.

Kit Unlock: Level 1

Field Notes

  • The Dome-Shield Battery extends the duration of your Titan’s Dome-Shield by ten seconds. This is a good kit to equip if you find yourself always dropping your Titan in or near battle. Your Titan cannot be damaged while in the Dome-Shield, although your Titan will take damage if you activate Guard mode or Follow mode. If enemy Titans or Pilots enter your Dome-Shield, the Dome-Shield will inflict damage to them—if they don’t exit quickly they’ll be killed. Since your Dome-Shield will last for approximately 23 seconds, this Tier 2 Kit is also a good distraction if dropped into a high-traffic area. Nearby enemy Titans or Pilots may flock to attack your Titan while you as a Pilot sneak attack the enemies.

Tier 2 Kit

Minion Detector

The Minion Detector displays both friendly and enemy Grunts and Spectres on your minimap at all times.

Kit Unlock: Level 1

Field Notes

  • This Tier 2 Kit is great if you’re always looking to quickly pick off enemy AI. Your minimap will show you the positions of the enemy AI to take them out and receive your Titan or Core ability quicker.
Pro Tip: StrongSide

Since the Minion Detector also shows you friendly AI on the minimap, you can use this to locate enemy Pilots. Watch for groups of friendly AI disappearing from the minimap and you’ll find an enemy Pilot nearby.

Tier 2 Kit

Warpfall Transmitter

The Warpfall Transmitter accelerates your Titanfall substantially, using short-range jump technology.

Field Notes

  • The Warpfall Transmitter is a great way to score Titanfall kills on enemy Titans. This kit allows your Titan to fall in three seconds rather than five. With the shortened amount of time you’ll be able to line up some awesome Titanfall kills.
Pro Tip: StrongSide

If you notice an enemy Titan sitting in a position and not moving too much, that is the time to deploy your Titan. When an enemy Titan is running in a direct line, call in your Titan a bit in front of him. This will take some practice as you have to predict where he will be when your Titan lands. Also, if you’re feeling lucky, you can bait an enemy Titan towards you and lay the Titanfall where the enemy Titan will be chasing you.

Tier 2 Kit

Dead Man’s Trigger

The Dead Man’s Trigger auto-detonates all your planted explosives when you are killed.

Kit Unlock: Level 37

Field Notes

  • This is a helpful Anti-Titan kit and best used with Satchel Charges. Many times when rodeo attacking an enemy Titan, they are able to kill you before you can detonate the Satchel Charges. This kit rewards that hard work and explodes on the enemy Titan when your Pilot is taken out, allowing your teammates to finish the Titan off. Avoid using this kit with the Arc Mines; they are more effective when they stay on the map instead of just exploding once you are killed.

Tier 2 Kit

The “Icepick”

The “Icepick” is a modified Data Knife that increases the speed with which you can hack Spectres and turret control panels.

Kit Unlock: Level 43

Field Notes

  • The “Icepick” cuts your time to hack a turret or Spectre in half. This allows you to capture a turret fast and immediately get back into the action. This Tier 2 Kit is best used on maps that are heavily based around turrets, like Training Ground.

Tier 2 Kit

Guardian Chip

This upgraded targeting system allows your Auto-Titan to engage enemies with much greater accuracy.

Kit Unlock: Level 49

Field Notes

  • This Tier 2 Kit upgrades your Auto-Titan greatly. Your Auto-Titan will kill many more enemy AI and even kill enemy Pilots in pursuit of the Auto-Titan or enemy Pilots that expose themselves in the open for too long.
Pro Tip: StrongSide

When equipping the Guardian Chip, equip the Arc Cannon to maximize its use. This weapon will take out enemy AI and Pilots that expose themselves too much. This weapon can also eliminate enemy Pilots in mid air after they have ejected from their Titan.
