Sunset Overdrive Official Strategy Guide Quests ACT 4

The Most Epic Quest For EXP

HarborPrerequisites: Complete “A Hero’s Duty”

With Ignatius reinstalled as head of a (somewhat) peaceful Fargarthia (well, at least the local marauders are gone), he’s now free to engage his subjects on other matters. Ignatius says that “an impressive golem of sorcery runs rampant.” Of course you know what that means: there’s a Fizzco Tank Bot somewhere that Ignatius wants destroyed. He won’t come right out and say that, since he’s lovingly crafted a campaign scenario around the pursuit of this foul mechanized beast. As a reward, you’ll get a mechanized beast of your own.

First, you’ll need to head east to the beach to protect a babe being attacked by goblins. This babe ends up being just Toby the Fargarthian, who was hoping to find some private space to practice his dance moves and is now instead beset by “goblins,” known to everyone else as OD. This is a nasty swarm featuring three Muggers as well as Gunkers and regular OD. There’s no reason to hold back against a force this lethal, and you can considerably simplify this in the first couple seconds by launching a couple Pulse Mines around a Taunt Bot, deploying a couple Turret Copters, then whipping out Captain Ahab. Your deployables will help keep you safe while clearing out minor enemies, allowing you to train high-damage guns on Muggers clinging to walls. Make the beachfront safe for Toby’s dance moves and you’ll earn EXP in Ignatius’s campaign and a new, familiar-sounding assignment.

Naturally, King Ignatius lusts for this one ring, which he thinks can be found at Gilt Trip store Downtown. This is a fair trek west across the Downtown district. Inside the store, you won’t find that one gold band Ignatius is after, but you will see an OD nearby wearing it! The OD runs off, forcing you to chase it and all its orc-like friends to claim that one ring. Switch to area-clearing weapons like Hair Spray Bomb to get through the throngs in a hurry; you can also deploy Pulse Mines right in their midst, and ahead in the ring-bearer’s path. Kill them and take “The Specious” before the ring-bearing mutant is able to leap into the water, destroying it.

Next, dungeon master Ignatius requires that you control a wolf with your dreams. Well, that’s awfully specific. Luckily, Oxford alumna Margaret will lend you Boo-Boo for use in this Quest. Since all you’ve got to do is demonstrate mastery over beasts before Ignatius, this should be easy to accomplish using the Kitty Cannon. Head to Sasquatch and Friends in Old Factory District to give Ignatius a “dream wolf” demonstration. You’ll again wield the Kitty Cannon in order to coax Boo-Boo to savage your enemies. There are Fizzco Bots entrenched in the road just north of the pizzeria, so dispatch them with Boo-Boo and claim more of Ignatius’s EXP.

Hurry back to Fargarthia if you dare, intones Ignatius. The final test is nigh! Fast travel or hoof it back to Fargarthia and address the king. He has entrusted you with your own army now—at least an army of jury-rigged Traps—and sends you south to engage in grave combat with the warlocks. You’ll have 140 energy to place four Siegfried the Great Traps, which are what Ignatius just gave you. That done, the battle will commence. “Goblins,” or OD, flood in with a Spawner at first, putting your armaments and Siegfried Traps to the test. Siegfried Traps are unique in that each individual Trap can “level up” as the battle progresses, growing stronger and changing visually. This requires that you keep Siegfrieds operational; if enemies destroy a given Siegfried Trap during this Quest or a Night Defense event, the level progress is lost.

When the Spawner and its attendant OD are overcome, more OD will arrive with Muggers backing them up. Continue fighting the dozens of OD, eventually causing enough of a ruckus to prompt Fizzco pacification forces to show up, including a Fizzco “warlock king,” or Tank Bot.
