Sunset Overdrive Official Strategy Guide Enemies

Scabs

You can find roving bands of Scabs anywhere and everywhere throughout Sunset City, usually fighting the OD or Fizzco security, and they’re going to be a problem for most of the game. They don’t move as quickly or chase you as far as the OD.

Most of the Scabs encountered in Sunset City are Shooters, run-of-the-mill riflemen who blaze away at everything that moves with an AK-FU. If they catch you while you’re on the ground, they’re amazingly accurate and can run you out of health in seconds. If you’re making yourself any kind of moving target, the Shooters can’t touch you. If you need to fight Shooters, find something to grind on or bounce off of and deal with them while you’re in motion.

The first time you run into the Rushers, they seem almost harmless. You can knock them down, one after the other, with a decent single-shot weapon because they have no real plan besides a screaming, headlong charge. If one’s allowed to take a swing at you, she can knock you into next week. Rushers can also use a jet-boosted lunge attack that’s easy to avoid, but if they catch you off-guard with it, it can send you flying.

Tossers initially seem a lot like the OD Blowers, in that they target your current location with lobbed explosives. The difference is that Tossers’ bombs are actually proximity mines, which means you can’t simply deal with them by staying in motion. They force you to constantly move in unpredictable patterns, or else you’re going to explode shortly thereafter. Take out Tossers as quickly as possible, before they turn the entire surrounding area into a minefield.
