Little Tokyo, Harbor
Just in case bark doesn’t end up somehow curing King Ignatius, it’s time to check out the farmers market in Little Tokyo to see if actual food can be found. Well, when life gives you pigeons, make pigeonade. There are hundreds of stuffed birds perched about, in an area that conveniently features several Pyro Geyser and Grind Cooker Traps. You will have two minutes to cook the proverbial geese of 500 pigeons. That might sound like a lot, but the pigeons repeatedly perch around the flaming Traps because someone has diabolically placed feed there. Whatever gets Ignatius fed.
You can use the Flaming Compensator to blast at pigeon flocks, and you can grind on the Grind Cooker Traps to spout sideways flame bursts at them, but neither of those approaches is that effective. It’s best to wait for a large group of pigeons to congregate around a Pyro Geyser Trap so you can fall onto it and roast as many as a hundred or more at once. Grind the wires above patiently and watch for many birds to arrow in toward a single Trap. When you see this, you know that’s the next bounce Trap on which you need to fall. Grind above it, jump off, and don’t miss. Pigeons scatter if you approach a Trap without triggering it. If you’re grinding for a few seconds and see no flocks assembling, they’re probably already around one of the Traps, so jump and bounce on them to roast any birds you didn’t see land.
Be patient and wait for flocks to assemble around bounce-able Traps, and you can clear this task in as few as three or four Pyro Geyser bounces. The two-minute limit is only a problem if you’re scaring the birds by missing the Traps, or by trying to stack up kills by blasting into the flocks, which might be fun but is not useful. Once you’ve stacked up 500 “gutter chickens,” the Fargarths will helpfully load the birds into shopping carts and take off up the road back toward Harbor and Fargarthia. Head up the road alongside the Fargarths to cover them; they’ll tear up the street on the shopping carts like unattended kids in grocery stores at about the same speed your hero grinds.
2: Not far up the road, your party will come under ambush from highwaymen Scabs holed up in a MOOil Gas Station. You’ll have to kill the Scabs before you can proceed with the birds. The Fargarths will set the shopping carts aside briefly so they can join in the fight, so you’ll have some extra guns on your side. Kill the Scabs in the street and those that emerge from behind the gas station pumps, and then follow the LARPers as they continue back toward the castle.
It seems this is not an isolated incident. Slightly further up the road, the Scabs have raised a drawbridge and fortified the span with a half-dozen Scab Tossers! Scabs are fairly pedestrian enemies most of the time, but several Tossers together can very quickly pepper the whole landscape with highly-damaging proximity explosives, which is no joke at all. Go in hard to clear this path. Once all the Scab Tossers are dead, the Fargarths quickly lower the drawbridge and advance.
Back in Harbor, it seems like the Scab threat is briefly over. After a couple turns on the street, the journey will attract the attention of a wandering Herker and its OD contingent. Corral the Herker quickly, before it can put a hurting on your hero, any of the Fargarths, or the three shopping carts brimming with dead pigeons you’re pushing across town.
It seems the Scabs aren’t done harassing you after all. They’ve prepared a massive ambush emerging from another gas station right across the street from Fargarthia! Be ready to engage two dozen angry Scabs only a few meters from your goal. The Scabs are numerous, and armed, but they’re also all close together, and all coming from one direction. Blanket the gas station with explosives and multi-hit weapons; if your Style is high, rush right in and abuse them with level 2 Dive Bomb Amps and level 3 Epic Amps. If you have Style level 3 and Chance of Lightning activated, you can basically just grind the rim of the gas station roof and let the Amp’s storm clear the Scabs for you. However you deal with the Scabs, they can’t be allowed to survive this close to noble Fargarthia. The Mission is done after the Scabs are gone and the birds are delivered.
