Sunset Overdrive Official Strategy Guide Quests ACT 3

The Firework Show

Little TokyoPrerequisites: Complete “The Fall of Emperor Norton”

4Kim has returned to Troop Bushido. You’ll find her on watch up top. 4Kim is worried about someone named Kim, an old friend of hers. If found, she could upgrade the museum’s perimeter defenses. 4Kim wants you to meet with her at nearby apartments to look for Kim.

Meet 4Kim at the ground-level entrance to the apartments and she’ll escort you north into the complex while explaining some of the backstory between her and Kim (nickname: “Just”). As you explore inside, OD will notice your presence and attack. Stick with 4Kim and repel the OD. You don’t need to worry about 4Kim, a competent warrior herself.

Pushing past the OD, you’ll be looking for a lobby door further north in the complex. This is a place suitable for settlement, so you know what that means: there are Scabs here you’ll have to deal with. Clear them out, then call 4Kim over to the door. She’ll search that apartment but implores you to search other doors on the roof.

While many doors are highlighted on your minimap as possible hideouts, the correct one is on the southwest tip of the complex, next to a rooftop tennis court. Kim’s there but mistrusts you at first, taking you for a Scab. She activates eight rocket pods on the roof, which begin firing at you immediately. Keep moving (no, seriously, keep moving) and destroy the eight turrets, which are all found on this stretch of rooftop. With Kim’s turrets out of commission, 4Kim can approach and ask Kim for help directly, proving you aren’t Scabs.

Kim won’t help unless you prove you’re worthy of her tech. With Kim’s rocket pods set up, you must kill 125 OD on the rooftops here. You’ll have enough energy at first to place four of her Pop Rocket Traps. Set them up and then grab the Bushido Sword found by Kim’s hideout to start the event. You can’t use guns, but you can melee with this sword. The Pop Rocket Traps you set up will do a lot of the work for you, letting you focus on keeping a Combo going so your Style stays high. With high Style, you can fall on groups of OD with a dive bomb Amp active, scoring easy kills. After you’ve cut down thirty, Kim finds a way to increase power to the turrets, allowing you to place four more. Set up more turrets and then brace for the final push: dozens of OD together with a Spawner. The rocket pods will continue to chew through the throngs of OD, making your main job to grind around and stay alive and be opportunistic about adding melee kills. Once the OD are all dead, Kim will concede that you know what you’re doing and hand over the Pop Rocket Trap for your permanent Night Defense use.
