3-4: Bad Medicine

Harbor

The pigeon feast has given Ignatius some much-needed strength back, but he still battles a high fever, or the “demons,” as Katherine calls it. She wants you to find some salve for Ignatius, something that might calm his raging brow. You might have some idea where high-grade drugs are kept, down south at the Fizzco Pharmaceutical Shipyard. Load up with anti-robot weapons and head for the shipyard in lower Harbor.

At the shipyard, you’ll have to check several trucks for the goods. Checking any of them alerts Fizzco and places all trucks in lockdown mode while alerting robot forces. This is the first you’ll see of the Fizzco Bomb Bot, which shows up to defend the pharmaceuticals. Bomb Bots jet back and forth between spots where they can shell their enemies with pulse mines and charged laser blasts. The Fizzco drug defense force is about 15 strong with Bots of all kinds, Blade Bots and Rifle Bots and the new Bomb Bots. They are especially susceptible to electricity, so rely on The Shocker, Murderang, and Fizzbot Rifle to terminate Fizzco agents quickly. When all of the robots are destroyed, the trucks will exit lockdown. Search the three trucks to find Fizzotussin.

Wendy points out that Ignatius’s medicine needs a 12th-century delivery system. It’s a method performance. Head north to Leech Pond Park to meet with Wendy and get debriefed on the plan. You’ll have to visit a nearby restroom, strip down to underwear, then wade into Leech Pond itself and get slathered in leeches. Disturbances in the still water indicate the presence of leeches. Wade into each disturbance in the water to get more and more leeches glommed on. Once the leeches in the first bog are expended, Wendy will urge you to swap to the other pool to feel for more. Once you’ve waded through and accumulated all the leeches in both bogs, that will be enough. It’s time to chug the Fizzotussin and return to Fargarthia.

You won’t get very far before you realize something strange seems to be happening. Wendy has been replaced as your guide by… Fizzie? And Sunset City is now some literal nightmare place, glowing orange with a floor made of hot lava. This Fizzotussin is apparently no joke. Fizzie will lead you on a roughly counter-clockwise tour of the rooftops of Harbor while he heckles you. It’s probably only fair; you did kill him. A few things are different about this nightmare place. The floor is lava, for one. There are skeletons that climb out of the lava and attack you, for another, and you have nothing to fight them with except for melee attacks. And finally, the presence of gigantic floating cans of Overcharge. These Overcharge cans work as bounce pads, giving you new traversal options to span large gaps over lethal flames below.

Follow Fizzie across the rooftops and you’ll eventually end up back at Fargarthia. Here, Fizzie will provide you with Dirty Harry and then attack, making copies of himself in all directions. Grind the rooftops of Fargarthia and blast Fizzie and his balloons with Dirty Harry (which has infinite ammo in this weird dream, of course) to escape this nightmare and return to reality, with Wendy at Fargarthia. Completing this mission unlocks Glider Challenge #3 and Boat Upgrade quest.
