Sunset Overdrive Official Strategy Guide Missions ACT 4

4-1: Las Catrinas

Downtown

Although Fizzco’s hard push has been resisted, the threat hasn’t diminished. Fizzco’s automated security can still drop Bots anywhere in the city, and the automated systems are still acting on an ultimatum to suppress any word (or survivors) leaving the city. A data drive Sam retrieved from the Tank Bot you destroyed reveals something big happening near its corporate HQ Downtown, but it doesn’t reveal what it is exactly. The best lead he has is for you to ask some face-painted, cheerleader-outfit-wearing survivors whom Sam has spied on cameras moving around Fizzco HQ. So you finally might meet the women from those strange murals…

The hospital building on Downtown’s southeast edge is the post-apocalyptic home of Las Catrinas. You’ve seen their signs around town, skeletal murals and graffiti and such; you’ve even seen brief glimpses of them in a few past events. But now you’re going to meet these skeletons in the flesh. Despite their deathly appearance, Las Catrinas have dedicated themselves to saving the children of Sunset City. A noble cause, to be sure, but you’re trying to stop Fizzco. Esperanza, leader of Las Catrinas, is only interested in food and supplies that benefit the kids, and won’t be budged to help you against Fizzco. Yet Las Catrinas have no problem sustaining themselves even in Downtown, the heart of Fizzco power, and they’ve already scouted Fizzco HQ themselves. Clearly, these are the most competent survivors left in Sunset City, and you’ll have to win these deathbringers over somehow.

Now that you’ve arrived in Downtown, note the extreme verticality here, with many different tiers to most of the district and towers that stretch into the sky. The hospital building itself is an excellent place to practice wall run/wall jump climbing, to build absurd Style Combos for fun, and to collect some well-hidden collectibles placed vertiginously at the top.

After finally meeting Las Catrinas, “It’s Personal” and “La Venganza” are newly-available Quests, while Challenge: Smash Scab Stuff and Points Challenge #5 are also now playable. Between these Quests and those unlocked after “A Hero’s Duty,” you have quite a bit of Overcharge you can earn here by performing these tasks, which will allow you to pick up any of Two Hat Jack’s inventory that you’re still missing. There will be more and more Fizzco Bots and larger groups of enemies, making electric-type weapons, decoys (Taunt Bot and Captain Ahab), and deployables more important than ever. If you have lots of Overcharge at this point and you’re happy with your current arsenal, you might also consider holding onto your currency—the ultra-powerful Charge Beam goes on sale soon, and its Overcharge cost is a steep 100,000.
