1-8: Boo-Boo Roverdrive

Little Tokyo, Old Factory District

Water Dash Unlocked!

You can cross using a bridge, or you can cross with your new water-dashing traversal move: press X just before landing on water to briefly ski across it, like rolling immediately upon landing on solid ground. This keeps your Combo going as long as you jump from the water to another traversal option before your momentum runs out. (You can’t jump from a water dash immediately into another water dash, though.) If you simply water dash, you’ll eventually lose inertia and sink into a normal doggie paddle, breaking the combo.

You’ve helped Dirk; now you’ve got to help Margaret. She has a stratospheric GPA so she’s sure to help your cause, but she’s too overcome with emotion to help until you retrieve her precious dog. The best place to check is the dog park just across the river in Little Tokyo—this Mission represents your first required foray into another district of the city.

Your first order of business once you arrive at the dog park in Little Tokyo is to clear out the OD swarming about. Grind the wires above and wipe out the clustered hordes, including a Spawner. Once the OD are wiped out, you can find and call Boo-Boo, but it’s not that simple. Boo-Boo isn’t prepared to answer to you right away. You’ll have to journey to a nearby toy store to try to find its favorite toy, Cutie Kitty.

The toystore is directly east, in the middle of Little Tokyo. Scabs and OD are locked in battle when you arrive at the Made In Asia toy store. A Scab has just left the store with Cutie Kitty in tow, which you can see since the toy floats above his head. Kill the Scabs, grab Cutie Kitty, and head back to the dog park.

Upon returning to Boo-Boo and tossing Cutie Kitty at its feet, your hero has an epiphany. As with the building of TNTeddy, field ingenuity quickly leads to the Kitty Cannon! This gun launches Cutie Kitty like a deployable. You’ll need to launch Cutie Kitty at three structures in the dog park to help recalibrate Boo-Boo.

Once that’s accomplished, you’ll need to take Boo-Boo home along a familiar route: the north bridge, where Margaret would walk Boo-Boo. You can’t use your guns, but that’s hardly an issue, since Boo-Boo itself is one of the most menacing things in the game, it turns out. Fire Cutie Kitty ahead using the Kitty Cannon and Boo-Boo will be lured along, savaging anything that happens to be nearby! You can see Boo-Boo’s territory as a white circle around the deployed Cutie Kitty.

After crossing north bridge, you’ll need to lure Boo-Boo south along the road leading to Sasquatch and Friends so Margaret can be reunited with her adorable little killing machine. Apart from launching Cutie Kitty into the midst of enemies so Boo-Boo throttles them all, you can also use melee attacks (but you won’t bother once you see what Boo-Boo can do). In fact, you’ll probably be sad to go back to guns. When you arrive at Sasquatch and Friends, you’ll find the place positively crawling with hundreds of OD, including multiple Spawners at once! Use Boo-Boo to clear them all out and then head inside once Sam opens the door to complete the Mission.
