Sunset Overdrive Official Strategy Guide Missions ACT 3

3-5: Ferry to Nowhere

Harbor

Floyd has a new base set up, and he’s ready to cook some Amps up overnight, if you’re down to defend him. He’ll need 10 security cameras to get this cook started. If you’re short, you’ll have to go hunt some down. Use the collectibles maps provided in this guide or buy one off of Two Hat Jack (though that cuts into precious gun money). Take an approach of snagging any collectible you notice that isn’t terribly out of the way and you’ll probably never run into bottlenecks with currency. Before undertaking this Mission, you can also perform the Boat Upgrade Quest, which increases the boat’s Overcharge capacity, thereby making this Mission a little easier.

The ship has the most exposed Vats of any player fort yet. There’s one in the center up top, and one directly below and aft. The ship itself is barricaded from the exterior in five places: two barricades at the back, two barricades to port (left), and one barricade starboard (right). The road to the north is one of the most heavily-trafficked OD spots in the city, and that’s no exception during Night Defense. Most of the OD will come from the north, entering through the two port barricades. But plenty will pour in from the west and the south as well. Set up Traps with this in mind. The ship has ample grind spots that allow you to keep moving while covering one side of the ship or the other.

Once you get started, you’ll have to protect the Vats for three minutes and fifty seconds. As long as you have at least 1 unit of Overcharge left in the Vats when that 3:50 ticks all the way down to 0, you win. You only lose if the OD get away with the entire supply of Overcharge. During the initial assault, you’ll face hundreds of grunt OD with a few Poppers mixed in. After about a minute and a half, the Vats will go into brief overdrive and wipe out the OD, giving you a brief break to establish new Traps. A new wave soon begins, led by a Herker. Hold off the Herker and the remaining OD for the duration of the timer to succeed.

By completing “Ferry to Nowhere,” you’ll open access to the Harbor Night Defense Challenge, as well as the Amps listed above. Two Hat Jack begins selling the Shorty Shotty, a snub-nosed shotgun with a gigantic close-range spread. If you like rushing right up close, this thing can be even better than the Flaming Compensator, depending on which weapon Amp you equip it with. It does more close-range damage and can be fired faster. If you don’t like rushing right up close, this is not the gun you’re looking for. By completing “Ferry to Nowhere,” you’ll open access to the Harbor Night Defense Challenge, Points Challenge #4, as well as the Amps listed above.
