Sunset Overdrive Official Strategy Guide › Missions › ACT 3

3-8: A Hero's Duty

Harbor, Little Tokyo, Old Factory District

This desperate Mission starts right after the last one ends. Troop Bushido and the Oxfords are both under heavy attack from Fizzco sterilization forces! You’ve built too much together to simply leave; you’re going back. There is obvious bedlam occurring city-wide, and you’ll get panicked phone calls from friends constantly, but you don’t actually have to rush to their rescue immediately; you can detour to do Quests or Challenges if you want. One thing you should definitely do, if you haven’t already, is stop by one of Two Hat Jack’s locations in order to pick up Turret Copter and Taunt Bot, both of which can be lifesavers on this very Mission. When you’re ready to help your friends fight Fizzco, head back to the museum in Little Tokyo first. Here, you’ll find 4Kim and friends holding off a massive Fizzco Bot assault. Speak to 4Kim to kick off the next phase of the battle.

Bot after Bot airdrops in to contribute to the attack. During the initial wave, you’ll have to repel eight Fizzco Rifle Bots to survive. These Rifle Bots are followed by eight Blade Bots. Finally, you’ll have to fight off nine Fizzbots at once, a mix of Bomb and Rifle Bots all opening fire. This is why the Turret Copter and Taunt Bot were recommended; Taunt Bot will keep you from getting killed, and Turret Copter provides steady damage even when you’re totally preoccupied with moving around and not getting killed. Amps like Change of Lightning and Stun Rounds remain as strong as ever against robots, if you can keep your Style up.

Troop Bushido may be saved, but the Oxfords over in Old Factory District still need rescuing. You’ll have to journey from Little Tokyo over the water back to Sasquatch and Friends, through a city under general assault by Fizzco. There is no place that is free of conflict right now, as Bots drop in everywhere. When you arrive back at the pizzeria, you’ll find a squad of Rifle Bots attacking the front door. Disable the Bots to let the Oxfords free; they’ll take up positions in the lot and chip into the coming battle, Fargarth-style. They’ve set up Tesla Traps in the lot, which will be great against the Fizzco reckoning that’s incoming. The first wave is a baker’s dozen of Fizzco Blade Bots. They’re followed by eight Rifle Bots, then four Bomb Bots who appear from roofs and alleys across the street to the east. But clearing all these Fizzco Bots won’t be quite enough…

Advanced Warfare

This MOAB (mother of all Bots) drops in to assure Fizzco victory in this crucial battle. The Fizzco Tank Bot is the strongest and most heavily-armored enemy in Sunset City. It’s heavily mobile, capable of using jump jets to quickly flit from one location to another. It’s sturdy, incapable of being knocked down. And it’s lethal, able to attack with a pulsing automatic laser that causes rails to sizzle and burn, and a tremendous fusillade of missiles launched all at once.

When it comes to fighting Tank Bots, treat them the same as their underlings. Remember that, for all its power, this mechanical behemoth can be made all but useless by electric shock; the Tesla Traps in the parking lot (along with some Weapon and Epic Amp options you might equip) are ready at hand for just this purpose. Electric-anything works well, and some sort of supplemental damage or decoy (Acid Sprinkler, Turret Copter, Taunt Bot) is almost a must. Stay moving constantly and swap between traversal paths every few seconds, jumping from grind spots to bounce points and back again even if it seems a little unnecessary, in order to avoid its laser and missile barrages.
