Downtown, Old Factory District
Prerequisites: Complete “Awesomesmithing” and “Fizzco: The International Conspiracy”
Here it is, you’re finally down to getting vital evidence of Fizzco wrongdoing. The mole contacts you again via a phone booth Downtown and advises that you travel to the Sunset Water Treatment Plant in lower Old Factory District. There, if you can clean up the plant and power it back on, there should be computers that have access to deep Fizzco secrets.
You’ll notice a couple troubling things when you arrive at the water treatment plant, which is quite a journey from Downtown. (You can use fast travel to speed it up if you like.) The first troubling thing is that the plant is crawling with OD—Blowers and Poppers and Gunkers and Muggers, pretty much everything but bosses. But perhaps the more disturbing thing is that the plant is clogged at multiple points with crap. As in with actual crap, like with excrement. Well, the mole said clean it up, so clean it up. The great boluses of poop clogging up the plant at various points can be shot, smashed, or rolled into in order to break them off of crucial plant elements. Most of the big chunks are out in the open and more or less impossible to miss, but (if you’re having trouble finding them all) be sure to grind the circumference of the plant looking inward—there may just be one or two straggler lumps you haven’t seen from the angles you’ve traveled.
Oh, and while you’re playing industrial-strength plumber, there are also huge numbers of OD here to kill. They can be distracted with Ahab, chewed apart with AK-FU, blown up by the dozen with Hair Spray Bomb, and so on. By now, you should be cutting through 80 OD at a time with the same air of importance you use to put on house shoes. The only issue here might be the Blowers and Muggers complicating things; if so, drop deployables to distract the other OD while you focus on the ranged threats.
Once you’ve cleared out the OD and the crap, you can start the computer that can dig up Fizzco dirt. This is found just slightly north of the previously-clogged parts of the plant, where you doused the raging flames of Excalamune. Start up the computer and it will need to run CHKDSK, and defrag the drive, and make 14.4k baud dial-up noises, and you’ll have to defend it. Naturally, trying to hack into Fizzco data draws the attention of Fizzco Bots, and you’ll be set upon by every standard kind of robot, Blade, Rifle, and Bomb. Stay grinding the plant rails and bouncing the plant fans while taking aim at the robots with electric weapons. If you have deployables (and if you don’t, why don’t you?), feel free to use about half of your stock, but don’t run those guns dry just yet.
Hold off the robots for a full minute and the hack will be complete. You will receive some extremely surprising news, and then you’ll have a second Fizzco force to deal with. This one consists of four Bomb Bots flanking a Tank Bot; the Bomb Bots will actually already be launching mines at you when the cutscene leading into the fight ends! Get moving immediately and take aim at the Bomb Bots first so you can have the Tank Bot all by itself. This explosive enemy force is why you wanted to save a few deployables, which you have no reason to reserve anymore. Launch a trio of every deployable you can, then swap to Charge Beam, Shocker, Fizzbot Rifle, or Murderang to fry elite Fizzco agent bacon. Destroying these Bots completes the Quest, netting you a huge reward of Cash and Overcharge. And, naturally, an espionage-ready trenchcoat.
