Old Factory DistrictPrerequisites: Complete “Up In The Air”
Sam has taken control of a network of tiny hidden cameras throughout the city, which is how he knows that Scabs have set up turrets along the boardwalk of Old Factory District. Who knows what else he knows? Sam has the best of intentions, like any big brother. Sam wants to know how the Scabs get the turrets to ignore the Scabs themselves. This Identify Friend/Foe tech seems beyond the native criminals who became the Scabs post-Overcharge disaster. As the first part of the investigation, Sam wants you to destroy five turrets along the lower boardwalk. Head northeast just across the street and toward the water to get started.
Most of the turrets are in plain sight, either along the boardwalk or out on a pier, but one of them is tucked away in an alley and is easy to miss. These turrets launch unguided rockets two at a time, so keep moving and be ready to dodge roll or air dash to evade an unexpected impact. Once you’ve destroyed five turrets on the lower boardwalk, Sam will note five more turrets on the upper boardwalk to the north.
These five turrets further north are all out in the open, and are thus all covering each other. Destroy all five quickly while grinding through the area. Sam notes that the concert stage by the water has a radar dish emanating a strong signal—this is the turret controller. Sam requests that you pick it up and bring it back to Sasquatch and Friends, where it can be installed on the roof.
All you have to do is pick up the turret controller and head back to the roof of the Oxfords’ hideout. With the dish installed, Sam can deactivate the turrets in your presence—but only if you keep Style up! Head to the rooftops just south of the fort to test this out.
You’ll have to kill 25 Scabs on the rooftops while building up Style. Initially, the turrets will deactivate when you’re at only Style level 1, but they very quickly require Style level 3 in order to deactivate. You can stack up Scab kills toward the total without having Style high enough to deactivate the turrets, but it’s obviously tougher with the turrets firing rocket salvos at you. Once you’ve killed 25 Scabs on the rooftops around the turrets, the Quest will be complete, and Sam will give you a turret Trap of your own.
