2-2: It's Me! Fizzie! — Sunset Overdrive Official Strategy Guide

Once you’ve made an uneasy acquaintance with Emperor Norton, meet him by the tents in the yard to see what he needs done. He says his troop has attempted to locate Bryllcream with a radio, but Fizzco transmitters around the local radio tower are overwhelming all other transmissions. Norton wants you to head to the radio tower in the southwest quadrant of Little Tokyo to disable those Fizzco transmitters.

Practice air dashing on the way to the radio tower. It’ll come in handy immediately, and for the rest of the time you play Sunset Overdrive. Get at least a little comfortable with it, then enter from the street through the front arch. As you arrive, you’ll run into a new kind of automated Fizzco security unit: the Blade Bot. This is basically Fizzco’s equivalent of the Scab Rusher or OD grunt, though significantly more advanced. Blade Bots can zip around like dervishes wielding two electric blades, and they can hurl these blades with uncanny accuracy. They’re a little less sturdy than other Fizzco Bots, if it’s any consolation. Once you’re on the radio tower’s grounds, you’ll have many Fizzco Blade Bots to deal with. There are Rifle Bots mixed in too, so watch out for their projectiles.

Once you find the ground-level transmitter, which looks like a Fizzie hologram, smash it. The way to the second level will be revealed by fallen satellite “drums.” Climb up by bouncing off them and find a yellow wire on the second level that allows undergrinds. From this wire, you can move up to the third level.

This level is crawling with OD, who will harass you as you look for another transmitter. It’s up here, somewhat hidden above, on the side of the next floor. Destroying this transmitter will collapse yet more debris, upon which you can bounce all the way to the top area of the tower.

It’s Me! Fizzie!

So Fizzie is taking this a little more personally than simply heckling you like during “Max’s Parents.” Fizzie ends up being quite the formidable gunship. Take advantage of this high-altitude section of the tower, which has yellow grind paths that spiral upward hundreds of feet and green, bounce-able satellite drums for movement variety. Combined with your new air dash maneuver, you should have no problems staying in constant motion up here. Which is good, because Fizzie is well-armed. But so are you: for just this battle, you have infinite ammo. There’s no ammo collection to worry about, just focus on movement and aiming.

Light up a series of three satellite drums by bouncing on them one after another and their resonance will briefly stun Fizzie. The mascot will hover there with its mechanical eyes wobbling unprotected, which allows you to plug it several times before it recovers. Ideally, switch to Dirty Harry and unload high-damage revolver rounds right into the eye sockets while you can. Once Fizzie recovers and begins attacking again, you’ll have to repeat the process of lighting up three drums to stun Fizzie. Each time you stun Fizzie and blast it in the eyes, Fizzie will grow more enraged and aggressive.

Toward the end, as you continue the cycle of stunning and beating up Fizzie, its face will collapse and you can shoot at its core. Finishing off Fizzie will also complete the mission, since Fizzie itself was one of the transmitters.
