Sunset Overdrive Official Strategy Guide Quests ACT 2

To Build a Better Cat Trap

Little TokyoPrerequisites: Complete “Big Trouble in Little Tokyo”

One novice member of Troop Bushido is bereft. She broke a cat statue, guaranteeing her a life of awful luck… unless she replaces the broken cat with, like, a whole bunch more. That’s how it works, right? She’s asking for your help in righting her wrong. More cat statues can be found at the mall just west of the museum. The mall is now home to a platoon of Scabs of all sorts, who also apparently have taken a fancy to cat statues. Load up for humans—bullet and fire ammunition work best—and head west to the mall.

You can collect the first four cat statues in any order, but the one listed here is the most direct. Scabs have fortified this indoor/outdoor mall. This first cat statue is in plain sight by one of the mall’s ground-level entrances. Make note of this location—the final cat statue encounter happens on the upper deck basically just above here. Wipe out the Scabs at the entrance, grab the statue, and head into the covered part of the mall. The Scabs’ interest in these cats is ordinance R&D—they’re trying to come up with better explosives. Watch out for their feline bombs in this area.

The second statue is found just west from the first one, in the mall. You’ll find it on a shelf in the open, guarded by several Scab Shooters and Rushers. You don’t have to take out the Scabs guarding the statues; you can just swoop in and steal the cat statues, and if you keep moving and grinding it’s even relatively safe. This place isn’t quite a rooftop for easy purchase, but you can grind handrails and garden box ledges and wall run along the interior. On the other hand, you can just kill everyone. The cats probably want it that way.

This cat statue is actually somewhat hidden, tucked just inside the La Laxante restaurant on the edge of the indoor food court. You might get distracted looking for it on ledges above or even the upper deck in that minimap location, but no; it’s just right there on ground level, under the food court covering on the south side.

North from the indoor food court, this cat statue is located in a sunny uncovered portion of the mall, shaded by a wooden lean-to. Some Scabs were having a downright pleasant picnic with this cat statue, but you’ll have to interrupt it for the novice scout’s honor. Clear the cluster of Scabs and scoop up the fourth statue. The fifth statue’s location isn’t revealed until you’ve acquired the first four.

Bandits make off with the final one, heading to the top level almost just above where the first cat statue was found. Scabs are clustered up there en masse, along with rocket turrets. They won’t give up all the cats without a fight! Your goal is simply to get up there and get the statue somehow, which they’ve placed behind the outdoor bar. If you vault to the top level from the east, you’ll actually end up right by the statue, behind all their defenses! Relieve the Scabs of the final statue and return to the museum to present the troop member with her replacement cats.
