Darksiders II Guide › Walkthrough › The Key to Redemption

The Crystal Spire

The Crystal Spire

This holy tower is home to the Archon, a mighty angel who peers into the darkness and records all that he sees.

Exploring the Spire

After fully plundering the outer grounds, enter the Crystal Spire and pull the interior lever to ride up to its first floor. Slay a few Corrupted Angels on the balcony, and then circle around the north Corruption crystals to discover a chest.

Circle back around the balcony and blast the Stonebite above a statue on the tower’s wall. Drop down into the nearby crevasse afterward to snag a Boatman Coin.

Catch the Shadowbomb

Climb out of the crevasse and split Death's soul. Have one spirit scale the nearby wall and shimmy around the hand hold to cross the crevasse.

Collect a Shadowbomb from the pod on the other side, and then enter aiming mode and toss it over to Death’s other spirit.

Switch souls and run north. Use the Shadowbomb to obliterate the crystals, and then scale the wall they were covering to reach the tower's apex.

The Archon

Death finds the Archon awaiting him at the top of the Spire. The mighty angel agrees to give the Rider the key he keeps, but only after Death journeys to Earth and obtains a powerful artifact known as the Rod of Arafel. This sacred item has the power to clear a path to the Ivory Citadel, where the Archon’s key is kept. With little choice, the Horseman agrees to seek out the Rod.

Step outside after speaking with the Archon and descend the east stairs to locate a chest. Consider tackling Nathaniel’s side quest at this point before plunging into the portal that the Archon has opened.

Nathaniel’s Quest

Before going to Earth, you may wish to do a bit of fast-traveling to complete Nathaniel’s side quest. This involves bringing his scroll to the Chancellor at the Eternal Throne, and then taking it to Muria at Tri-Stone. The Chancellor will ask you to retrieve an artifact from the Soul Arbiter’s Maze, but the task is too difficult at this point in your journey and is better left until later. Muria, on the other hand, will ask Death to visit a side dungeon in the Forge Lands and defeat a powerful enemy there. This dungeon is called the Scar, and now is a good time to accomplish this task for the Forge Lands’ humble shaman. See the “Side Quests and Areas” chapter for further details.
