Thane’s Side Quests

This rugged Maker can offer Death a number of side quests that span multiple realms.

Side Quest: “The Maker Warrior”

  • Location: Tri-Stone
  • Reward: More Quests
  • Recommended Level: 3-5

From the very first time you visit Tri-Stone, you can challenge a burly Maker named Thane to a fight. Defeat Thane and he’ll offer you four additional side quests that involve killing some of the realms’ most notorious fiends (see the sections that follow). It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to defeat Thane until after you clear the first dungeon, the Cauldron, but you’ll have no trouble besting the Maker if you wait until after you’ve cleared the Drenchfort.

Side Quest: “Find and Kill Gorewood”

Thane gives you this side quest after you complete “The Maker Warrior”. Gorewood is a giant earth golem that resides within the Weeping Crag; you’ll find him in the vale beyond the Stalker’s den. The brute’s attacks are mighty, so evade and counter with punishing skills until you at last manage to chop Gorewood down to size.

Side Quest: “Find and Kill Bheithir”

  • Location: The Nook
  • Reward: Bheithir’s Talons
  • Recommended Level: 15-20

You acquire this side quest after completing “The Maker Warrior”. Bheithir is a huge phoenix that flies around in the basement area of the Nook. Deathgrip over to the basement’s broken walkway, and Bheithir will land and combat you. There’s little room to maneuver, so use Teleport Slash to zip past Bheither and strike from behind. Unleash Reaper Form to ensure this great fiend’s demise.

Side Quest: “Find and Kill Achidna”

  • Location: The Pyschameron
  • Reward: Achidna’s Fangs
  • Recommended Level: 15-20

You acquire this side quest after completing “The Maker Warrior”. Achidna is a monstrous spider that Death must combat at the end of the Psychameron. This is a mandatory battle and part of the main adventure, so you end up completing this side quest during the course of Death’s main quest. Refer to the “Court of Bones III: Basileus” walkthrough chapter for help in navigating the Psychameron and locating this foul creature.

Side Quest: "Find and Kill the Deposed King"

You acquire this side quest after completing “The Maker Warrior”. Argul is a towering skeletal warrior that resides deep within the bowels of the Lair of the Deposed King. Though Death is able to explore this side dungeon early in his adventures in the Kingdom of the Dead, he lacks the power to contend with Argul until much later in his adventure.
