Shadow Gorge
This ominous gorge lies west of the Stonefather’s Vale. Death must brave this dreary passage to reach the Drenchfort, from which the Tears of the Mountain once flowed.
On the Prowl
The path widens as you near a gate, and a couple of Prowlers are on patrol. A Stinger Hive also stands in the distance, churning out vicious little critters called Stingers. Dispatch these minions on horseback if you like, using Redemption in combination with Death's scythes to quickly cut them down. Killing your first Stinger advances Muria's side quest.

Underwater Plunder
Before investigating the gate and tower to the west, explore the north trail to reach an old, abandoned keep that's fallen to ruin. Search the shallow moat to discover an underwater Boatman Coin amongst the remnants of the collapsed bridge.

Raising the Gate
The Shadow Gorge’s west trail is blocked by a massive gate, and you’ve got to find some way to open it. Locate the Shadowbomb sticking out of the nearby tower’s wall, right between two yellow Corruption crystals. Use Redemption to detonate the bomb and destroy the crystals, exposing a peg.
Run up the wall and vault from the peg to reach the balcony above. Before entering the tower, creep along the balcony’s lip to claim a Boatman Coin. Ensure Death is in good health, and then enter the tower.

Beware: you’re sealed inside this small, crumbling tower the moment you enter, and are swarmed by a host of vicious critters called Stingers. Use Redemption to help you wipe out these flying pests, and Evade often to present a difficult target.
The battle intensifies after you slaughter the Stingers, and a mob of Savage Prowlers emerge from the central pit. Beware their aggressive attacks, and stay light on your feet while cutting them down with Death’s best moves.
The tower unseals after the Savage Prowlers have fallen to the Reaper’s wrath. Exit the tower and jump up to claim a floating Boatman Coin from the west balcony, and then drop down from the tower to land on the opposite side of the gate. Pull a lever to open the gate and you’ll never need to cut through the tower again.
