Street Fighter V eGuide Fighters R. Mika

Overview

Pros
  • Her terrific three-frame jabs combo into LP Shooting Peach for knockdown momentum.
  • She has great anti-ground and anti-air command grabs, which can be powered up with her Heated Mic Performance V-Skill.
  • She has good anti-airs and ground control normals.
  • She deals incredible damage and has reset potential near corners.
  • Her versatile and fun V-Trigger is reminiscent of calling assists in Capcom’s superhero crossover series.
Cons
  • She has no reliable reversal; EX Shooting Peach is armored but still loses to meaties and throws, and Peach Assault costs a full EX Gauge.
  • She has an essentially non-existent high/low game, with only crouching (very good poke, but no combo teeth without Peach Assault) and crouching (a horribly punishable slide kick).
  • She has a weak mid-range game outside of charged (though charged mostly makes up for it).

After a long hiatus since Street Fighter Alpha 3, R. Mika finally returns. The colorful wrestler arrives with throws for every occasion and a solid ground game based around her decent walk speed and useful normals. She’s a grappler whose primary goal is pushing her opponent to the corner. For a number of reasons, R. Mika’s close-range offense is stronger against a cornered enemy, and she has many tools explicitly designed for lots of corner carry to get them there.

Your objective is to push your opponent into a corner. Achieve this by:

  • Advancing forward and pressuring with max-range HP Shooting Peach, charged standing , and
  • Shooting down jumps with crouching and Wingless Airplane
  • Converting combo openings into Shooting Peach or Passion Rope Throw
  • Ticking into Rainbow Typhoon or Brimstone when close, using whichever aims toward the nearest corner
  • Using Rainbow Typhoon and Wingless Airplane command grabs defensively to swap sides when R. Mika has been cornered
