Pros
- Necalli has additional zoning threats from outside of close range by using his ground-pounding V-Skill.
- V-Trigger lasts indefinitely; if you can build a full gauge early enough, you can dominate the rest of the round with enhanced mobility and damage.
- Necalli has completely invincible anti-air attacks; HP/EX Raging Light are incredible anti-airs that reward you with enough advantage to mount follow-up pressure.
- His close-range strategy is diverse, having a command throw and an overhead to open up his enemy’s defenses.
- He has no problems getting through predictable projectile patterns using The Disc’s Guidance.
Cons
- Mask of Tlalli starts up at eight frames, making it a less than ideal option in certain up-close situations.
- Anti-air is limited to the area in front of him; he doesn’t have a great way to deal with jumping cross-up attacks directly above his head.
- His crouching
combos are difficult to use and do not work on certain characters (see the Combo 1a description for details).
Necalli’s design leans toward offense, with a dash of defensive features sprinkled in. He’s a hybrid character who has almost every kind of attack, including long-distance threats, invincible anti-airs, and command throws. He’s a moderately difficult fighter to play, but his mid-range and close-range strategies are intuitive.
Your objective is to get Necalli within close range, where the threat of his command throw opens up more offensive opportunities. Achieve this by:
- Frustrating the opponent with Culminated Power ground pounds, eventually luring them into mid/close range where Necalli shines
- Engaging at mid range with Necalli’s standing
and crouching
attacks, hopefully getting the opponent to jump into his dominating Raging Light anti-air - Finding holes in the enemy’s defenses where Necalli can dash in for command throw and frame trap mix-ups
