Rewards: Clear Gem. Unlocked: Get carried away by a pterodactyl on Dino Might!
Like Hot Coco, there’s no platform that takes you to this level. You must enter Dino Might! (Level 11 of the Oriental Area) to reach this secret dino-riding level. Additionally, it’s necessary for you to have the Yellow Gem from Hang ’Em High (from the Level 27 alternate path in the secret area).
Once you meet these criteria, simply run through the Dino Might! level until you reach the Yellow Gem path. Jump on the platform and ride it to the next area. Run through the level until you reach the part where the triceratops starts chasing you. Hit the checkpoint box here in case you miss the spot. After you run past two lava pits and jump over a third, you start encountering pterodactyls. Ignore the first one on the right and pass it on the left, hitting the speed boost. The next pterodactyl you must run straight into. Instead of being defeated by this enemy, he takes you to the secret level…Eggipus Rex!
You start this level next to a nest with a massive egg sitting on it. Break open the egg to reveal the Baby T dino, and hop on his back to get started!
There are no boxes to break on this level, just a ton of fruit to nom. Jump over the first gap, picking up all the fruit in the air and along the path. Jump over the next gap and carefully over the steam geyser while remaining on this platform. Then jump across the next four pits before jumping over yet another steam geyser to the next platform.
As you cross to the edge of this platform, you see a pterodactyl between the platform you’re on and the one to your right with the nest. Jump across to the platform once the pterodactyl flies up. Jump up to the next platform and over the steam geyser while staying on that platform.
The next platform is small, but you need to jump onto it and then on to the next one, which has a large amount of fruit waiting for you. Follow the fruit trail, jump up to the next platform, and face left.
There’s a pterodactyl above the next platform. Wait for it to fly up before you jump up to the platform and cross it to jump up to another much-smaller platform. Turn right and leap up to the next platform, gaining a load of fruit for the dino’s hungry belly.
You can see the pterodactyl here, but it isn’t a threat. Simply jump over and onto the next platform, then turn left and jump up again to land on a larger platform with a stack of fruit leading up into the air. Grab all the delicious noms and get ready for your next jump.
The platform to your left has a steam geyser. Wait for it subside, then jump across and over it. There’s a pterodactyl here—jump over it or on it and land on the next platform to the left. Then make two more jumps to the left until you come to the next pterodactyl. Jump this one to land safely on the platform to the left, in a nest between two steam geysers.
Jump over the troublesome steam geyser, heading left, where a bunch of fruit awaits you. Run to the edge and make a huge jump, grabbing lots of fruit and an extra life as you land on a very small platform. Jump over the pterodactyl, heading left, and gobble up all fruit here and on the next platform to the left that you jump up to.
This is the trickiest part of your dino ride. You must jump over two gaps and two pterodactyls. After jumping over the first one, wait for the steam geyser to the left of the second pterodactyl to subside before jumping onto it. You’re standing on a geyser now, so act quickly. Wait for the next steam geyser to subside, then jump up to the next platform, where you claim your well-deserved gem and exit the level. You have mastered the art of riding the baby dino, and you have the gem to prove it!
Time Trial
Time Requirements
Sapphire: 0:57:00
Gold: 00:52:03
Platinum: 00:47:74
This is by far the easiest of the time trials. Simply stay on the dino (which is much faster than you) and jump through the level as quickly as possible. You don’t have much time to wait on steam geysers, so time your drops precisely. Additionally, you gain some more momentum by bouncing on the pterodactyls’ heads right before the end of the level.
