Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Guide › N-Sanity Island

Boulders

Rewards: Clear Gem—smash all 16 boxes.

Boulders offers yet another type of level. You run along a path, but Crash moves toward you rather than away. Also, there’s a giant boulder rolling after you. There’s no time to think—run and jump, or you’re a Crash pancake.

Things are nice and peaceful at the start; pick up some Wumpa fruit and smash some boxes. However, as soon as you pass through the first archway, the boulder begins rolling toward you. Chasms come up quickly as you run, so always be ready to jump. Once you make it to another archway, catch your breath and smash boxes. Then, once you’re ready to continue, leave the archway and start running.

As you pass through a tree trunk, don’t slow down—it’s not an archway, and the boulder keeps coming. Now you must jump over fences of wooden slats. You can run through them, but this slows you down and lets the boulder gain distance on you. Two boxes are out on the path in this area. As you jump over fences, be ready to spin-attack the boxes to get them.

Once you reach the next archway, there’s a checkpoint. Smash more boxes here, then get ready for the rest of the level. The chasms in this next section are wide, but there are pillars you can jump onto in the middle that help you get across. Stay centered when you jump across a chasm so you can land on the pillars.

During this stage, you must also run around wooden stakes in the ground; crashing through them slows you down. Look for the last two boxes while you run. Spin-attack them as you go to break them and keep out in front of that boulder.

The last part of this level has you crossing chasms with two and then three pillars in the middle. This gets tricky since you must jump at the last moment in order to reach the next pillar or the edge of the chasm. The third pillar is crucial since you jump from it to the end of the level, where a Clear Gem waits if you smashed all 16 boxes.

Time Trial

Time Requirements

Sapphire: 1:04:00

Gold: 0:49:44

Platinum: 0:47:48

This level already requires you to move fast. The only differences in the time trials are that you must not stop in the archways, and you must spin-attack every time box you see in order to temporarily stop the clock. As you make your last jump to the end, mount the portal quickly to stop the clock.
