Once again, you’re moving along a jungle path in the dark. The only light you have is a firefly that flies alongside you. It doesn’t last long, so get new fireflies as you come across them. If you stop for too long on the trail, the firefly flies on without you, leaving you in the dark. You don’t need the death route to earn the first Clear Gem. To get both gems on the same playthrough, don’t die before reaching the death route, follow it to the second Clear Gem, and either backtrack or die to return to the main level. You can also backtrack the end of the death route to break the two boxes.
At the start, simply jump across some gaps. Watch for a mouse that moves across the path in front of you. Break boxes along the way as you continue dealing with gaps and mice. Either jump over the mice or use spin attacks to clear them away. Continue to the checkpoint. Jump over more gaps and get past several lizards. Either jump over them or slide-attack into them.
Next, maneuver around spiky robots. They’re not moving, so go either left or right past them, depending on their positions. Jump across a gap and squeeze though an open space between more of these robots to reach the crystal, a checkpoint, and another firefly.
The spiky robots move back and forth in the next stage, so dodge them. Clear out a lizard along the way. When you reach the circular “?” platform, ride it to the bonus stage.
Smash a box and jump over a couple nitro boxes. Jump across the left side of a gap to avoid spiky robots on the other side. When you come to a fork where the death route rejoins the main path, go left and backtrack to break two boxes. Then go forward again.
Continue jumping over gaps, avoiding mice and spiky robots and dealing with lizards until you reach the green switch. Hit it to destroy all the nitro boxes, then go through the doorway to claim the Clear Gem, if you’ve broken all the boxes. Take the portal back to the warp room.

This time trial isn’t too difficult. Keep moving, picking up all the time boxes that you can. When you come across mice or lizards, jump over them or defeat them quickly. The first spiky robots don’t move, so run around them. Later on, time your movements past them so they don’t run into you. Since you’re constantly moving, the fireflies don’t leave you behind.
