The first event in which Manu invites you is a drift contest. He wants to help you get your feet wet and get a taste for the drift. For this type of event, you follow a course for a set amount of time and see who can score the most drift points.
Manu has picked out a circuit course down by the Navy Pier in South Port. This is mostly an industrial area. You might want to head back to the garage beforehand and tune your car so it’s a little looser and ready to drift.
Objective: Score more points than Manu within two minutes.
At the start, punch the throttle to get as much speed as you can before hitting the first turn. As you get a bit past the entry to the corner, turn the wheel into the turn and tap the hand brake if necessary to send your car into a drift. This is a good corner for scoring some drift points.
Get your car back under control and take a straight line to the next turn. It’s not quite as tight as the first.
This long straightaway is a good place to pick up some speed and prepare for the upcoming turn.
This right angle turn can score you some points, especially if you take it at high speed. Don’t start the turn too early or you may hit the light pole. Plus, you have plenty of room to slide and drift through the turn
While this turn is not too bad, it is followed by a tight right angle turn. So as you drift around the first, recover quickly and get ready for the second turn.
This is a good turn for drifting. However, after two previous turns in a row, you don’t have a lot of time to pick up speed. Once you get through this one, pick up speed along the straightaway so you’re ready to hit the first turn again as you go around the circuit until the timer runs out.
