Clamping Down

Manu is changing location this time. While still navigating some winding roads outside of town, you are now in the foothills of the Crescent Mountains. There is no target score to beat—you just have to beat the scores of your competition. There are four other drivers and you have three minutes to get as much Drift Score as you can.

Objective: Earn the most Drift Score to win.

The course starts with you racing into a turn. Try to stay in the middle of the road as you go around it. Also avoid hitting other cars or you won’t score for that drift. Don’t worry about drifting through the intersection. Instead, pick up some speed for the following turns.

This turn is wide and long, so sprint into it with as much speed as you can. Don’t take it too tight to the inside or your front wheels will hit the grass, slowing you down or (worse) sending you into a spin. Stay on the roadway for better drifting.

Accelerate as you head toward a pair of alternating turns. Take the first one fast and, as you exit, set yourself up for the second. This can be a tough transition.

Drift around the turn at the intersection to increase your Drift Score. Then race into another series of alternating turns. These are tighter and can earn you a higher score.

There are two more alternating turns that bring up back to the start. You need speed to drift around these. If you have nitrous, use it as you approach. Continue around the course as many times as possible until time runs out. A good strategy is to try to get out in front so you are actually hitting more turns than your opponents. Only drift around the tighter turns and don’t try to drift just anywhere. If you get behind, your opponents may get several more turns than you do before the timer ends and more opportunities for Drift Score.
