Need For Speed eGuide Walkthrough Speed

White Knuckles

Magnus Walker’s new run starts off in Burnwood. It then takes you through Royal Park and ends up in South Port. It combines running through city streets with high speed sprints along freeways. Since it’s a time trial, you’re racing against the clock. Spike will not be joining you on this one, so you don’t have another car to help you keep the pace.

Objective: Beat Magnus Walker’s time of 2:10 as you race from start to finish.

You need to cover just over four miles in 2:10. That means you must maintain an average speed of just over 100mph. The run starts as you approach the on-ramp to the freeway. So you have a turn to the right that you can take fairly easy. Accelerate to the turn, let off as you turn, and then hit the gas and zoom onto the freeway. Sprint as fast as you can for just over a mile to get to Royal Park. During the last part of this, move to the left side of the freeway and watch for oncoming traffic.

Take the on-ramp to get off the freeway, once again watching for oncoming traffic. The on-ramp does have a turn to the left, so slow down a bit. However, it’s a lot better than the off-ramp most people take from the freeway. Let up on the throttle and tap the brakes if needed. Then punch it when you’re about halfway through the turn.

The run through Royal Park follows wide main roads. That gives you plenty of room to maneuver. You should be driving over 100mph for most of this, slowing only for a couple of the tighter turns. Avoid collisions and keep going.

As you reach the end of the run through Royal Park, prepare for a tight turn to the left. Slow down and be sure to maintain control. Try to start on the outside and cut to the inside as you exit the turn. This puts you in a better position for the tight right turn that takes you onto the on-ramp of the freeway.

Now for another sprint on the freeway. The tightest turn here is in the tunnel right after you return to the freeway. Try to stay in the middle and let up on the accelerator if needed to slow down and maintain control. Don’t get too close to the walls. There are supports that stick out that cause you to crash if you hit them. Once you exit the tunnel, floor it and make up as much time as possible.

As you get to South Port, take the first off-ramp. Yes, you are actually driving on the right side of the road for this exit! The off-ramp has a turn to the left that requires you to slow down a bit as you enter. It’s followed by a 180-degree turn to the right. Don’t blow it here. Slow down and even powerslide around this turn if necessary. You should still have plenty of time to take this turn, then accelerate out of it and around a wide turn to the left toward the finish line.
