Let's Heat Things Up

Amy has got another event for you. This time it’s a race mostly on freeways, so you can really evaluate what your customizations in the garage have done. See who can get from Burnwood to Franklin Terrace the fastest.

Objective: Race to the finish line in a point to point sprint race. First across the finish line wins.

The race starts with your turning onto the on-ramp for the freeway. The on-ramp can be tough because it has long stretches of straight road with a sharp turn to the left in the middle. Pick up some speed as you head to toward the turn, then slow down to avoid bouncing off the walls—literally. As you begin to exit the turn, put the pedal to the metal since the rest of the ramp onto the freeway is fairly straight.

The freeway is your main speed zone for this sprint race. While Amy might stay ahead of you while on the on-ramp, you should be able to catch up and even pass her here. The only concern you should have here is traffic. While they are going the same direction as you, they’re only going about half your speed. So crashing into them would be like driving into a brick wall at 60-70 mph. Look ahead and plan how to get around them.

Once you reach Franklin Terrace, you need to get onto another freeway. There is a connector ramp off to the right. It is long and does not require you to slow down until you get to a tight turn to the left. Slow down before you enter the turn. Mainly you want to shift the weight of the car to your front wheels to make the turn until control. However, once you’re around the turn, speed up since it’s a straight shot onto the freeway.

This is a shorter stretch on the freeway than before. However, you still have enough time and distance to get up to your top speed.

The speed does not last, though. The off-ramp here is essentially a 360-degree turn to the right. Slow down as you enter the turn and take it under control. Then be ready for a quick left turn at the end onto a main street. Hit the gas and sprint all the way to the finish line.
