Need For Speed eGuide Walkthrough Speed

Loco Motive

You and Spike are running a sprint race with five other drivers. This one takes you up the Crescent Mountains and back down again. Those turns can be tight, especially with seven cars jockeying for position along them.

Objective: Race to the finish line in a point to point sprint race. First one across the finish line wins.

The race starts off along a city street. Hit the gas and try to get out in front so no one’s in your way when you hit the first turn. It’s a 90-degree turn to the left. Enter on the inside and powerslide around. Be ready for a turn to the right. There’s another turn after the tunnel, but you can take it pretty fast.

Be ready for a turn to the left. While it’s a bit tighter, you can still take it at speed. Now you have a shallow turn to the left as you race up the mountain. Near the end of this section, you have a turn to the right, followed by a tight turn to the left. Stay on the inside of this turn. If you take it too wide, you’ll crash into a wall and lose all of your speed. Since you’ve already slowed down to take that left turn, you should have no trouble taking an immediate right turn.

Keep going and make a right turn to begin your turn to the left around a lake. It gets a bit tighter near the top of the turn, so try to stay on the inside and slow down if necessary.

After passing by the lake, you hit a tight hairpin turn to the left. You can powerslide around this and pick up some speed as you head toward another hairpin turn to the left. Use the same tactic as before. Accelerate through the next area as you climb the rest of the way to the top and then begin your descent. Watch your mini-map for the upcoming S-turn. By the time you hit them, you should have some major speed. Slow down and try powersliding through both of these turns.

As you continue down the mountain, you hit some wider turns. The temptation is to take these fast—especially since you’re racing and are either trying to stay in the lead or catch up.

You can take these turns fast as long as you slow down before beginning the turn. Remember to get the weight on the front wheels so you can safely manage these turns or you’ll run into the guardrails. After the last turn here, let ’er roar and speed down the road. As you enter the tunnel, be ready for a turn to the left—you may want to slow down for this one. Then, as you approach the intersection, prepare to cross it and turn to the right.

The last stage of this race is a series of alternating turns. Try to stay on the inside so you’re better positioned for the next turn. Powerslide through the tighter turns, but do not give up too much speed. The finish line is immediately after the last turn and you don’t have a lot of time or space to accelerate to the win.
