After leaving the Long Horn, Magnus calls you personally. He offers a chance to drive with him. Magnus suggests a sprint race around El Rey and Franklin Terrace. This is high speed freeway driving. You’re going up against Magnus and his customized Porsche, so you might want to visit the Garage first and spend some of your prize money on upgrades.
Objective: Race against Magnus Walker and try to beat him to the finish line.
The race starts with you already driving the on-ramp to the freeway. It has a turn in the middle, so let up on the gas when you get there since you’re accelerating all the way toward it. Be ready for a few turns when you enter the tunnel. Although they’re wide, you’re driving fast. Be careful of the supports along the walls and slower traffic. As you exit the tunnel, open ’er up. There are a few shallow turns, so try to maintain a straight line as much as possible to minimize any turning of your wheels.
The freeway takes a turn to the right here. It’s wide, but let off the gas as you enter and tap the brakes if necessary to take this turn under control. Exit the turn on the inside to the right. The freeway separates immediately after this turn and if you’re driving in the middle, you may hit the divider and crash. Now accelerate up to top speed as you head to El Rey.
As you approach El Rey, there’s a tight turn—at least for high speed driving. Stay to the right as you enter so you have plenty of room to make this turn. Exit on the outside. Pick up speed as you go through a series of slight turns. Right after you go across an overpass (it looks like an intersection on your mini map) get ready for a turn to the left. It doesn’t look tight on the mini-map, but it can cause a crash if you hit it too fast. Stay to the left of the road as you enter and drive a line toward the right side of the road at the exit. This gives you a fairly straight drive line through this turn.
Stay to the right where the freeway divides here. This takes you through a tight turn. Slow down a bit for this first turn, then hit the gas through the rest of this stretch. If you’re still trailing Magnus, this is a good place to catch up.
Take a ramp that leads to another freeway here. There’s a tight turn in the middle of this ramp, so slow down as you approach, then accelerate out of the turn. This is your last chance to let those horses run on the freeway, so get up to top speed.
The finish line is right on the freeway, so don’t worry about an off-ramp. Instead, the only concern for the final leg is the turn in the tunnel. It goes to the right, so stay on the right side of the road to give yourself room to move left as you go through the turn. Magnus does not let up here, so you have to keep your speed up all the way to the end.
