Manu has another drift event for you down in South Port. This time it’s a drift trial. That means there’s a target score you must beat as you make your way through a course. There is no time limit, but you do need to drive through a series of checkpoints on a course shaped like a figure-eight.
Objective: Score 35,000 before you get to the finish line.
Hit the gas to get some speed as you head to the first corner. You want to hit it as fast as you can. Be careful not to take it too tight since you don’t want to hit any obstacles or objects on the inside of the turn. As you exit the turn, floor it so you have some speed for the second turn to the left.
Speed up along the straightaway to increase your score as you drift around the turn to the left. This can be one of your big scoring turns, so do it right.
This intersection is tough to get a big score since it comes right after another drift. For the first part of the lap, you take a right here and then as you come back you will take a left—though you should have a lot more speed when you go to the left. The key here is to maximize your score, then begin accelerating so you hit the next turn at high speed.
This is a tight corner to drift around if you take the turn lane. You have a wider area if you actually drift around the intersection after the turn lane. You are less likely to hit anything and have more room for error. As you exit, straighten up and punch it as you head toward the next set of turns.
The first turn to the right has a turn lane. Drift in that lane to score some extra points since you’re taking it tighter. The second turn to the right is not very tight. While you can try drifting it, you might be better off maintaining your speed so you can hit the T-intersection up ahead with some velocity and score more points as you begin the course for a second lap.
