Need For Speed eGuide Walkthrough Speed

Pulse of the City

You now get to race a time trial. Spike is running it along with you. However, you’re not racing against him. You are racing against the clock. You must cover 2.85 miles in 1:54 or less. That means you need to maintain an average speed of nearly 60 miles per hour. Since most of this is on the freeway, you can do this fairly easily. Just be careful not to waste time by crashing or spinning out of control.

Objective: Run the route as fast as you can. Finish within 1:54 to win.

The first section of this race is fast. However, watch out for a few of the turns. While they are shallow, one to the left is followed by a quick one to the right. Try to maintain a line of staying on the inside of each turn to minimize turning and are less likely to lose control at high speeds.

The freeway divides after you pass under a bridge. You must stay on the right side of the road here. There is a tighter turn to the right where you need to slow down before entering. If you don’t, your car will run into the wall. Don’t worry, you have time to slow down here and, in the end, you will actually save time by maintaining control. The road then takes a wide turn to the left, around the side of the mountain. At the end of this turn, there’s a tighter turn to the right. It’s not bad, but can be challenging since you go from a left turn immediately into one to the right. Take your foot off the gas here and even tap the brakes as you enter this turn so you can accelerate out of it.

At last, the straightaway! Give it full throttle here. If you have some nitro, get up to full speed and then give yourself an extra boost. You hit your fastest speeds along this stretch.

Your speed run comes to an end at this off-ramp. It’s long, but has a sharp turn to the right in the middle of it. Slow down a bit before entering the turn. Just letting up on the gas as you take the off-ramp can help. The turn is narrow, so you don’t have a lot of room for sliding. As you exit, hit the gas again for a short sprint along another section of freeway.

This off-ramp can be the toughest part of the event. You have a 360-degree turn to the right. Slow down as you enter it or you’ll grind your driver’s side door against the barrier. As you exit the off-ramp, be ready for a quick turn to the left. But this time, your speed is lower so you should have not problem taking it. Accelerate through this turn and all the way to the finish line!
