This is the last event for the Speed category. It’s a time trial around the entire city that combines sections of racing through city streets connected by runs on the freeways. You must cover 13 miles within 5:41. There’s not a lot of room for error on this one and nobody is running it with you. It’s just you and the clock.
Objective: Bear Magnus’ record time of 5:41 on his epic run around the city.
The race begins in the middle of Burnwood. Reach top speed along the city street, then prepare for a sharp right turn. Accelerate and then slow down again as you go around the turns of the on-ramp to the freeway leading to South Port.
For this leg on the freeway, you have only some wide turns. Drive as fast as you can and don’t slow down until you’re in South Port.
The off-ramp at South Port has a tight 270-degree turn to the right. As you exit, hit the gas. There are a few turns in this part of town, but the roads are wide and you can powerslide through the tighter one. As you get to the end of this leg, you have a turn to the left. Slow down for this one. While it’s possible to take it fast, you have a quick turn to the right to get onto the freeway on-ramp. By staying in control, you’re better able to make that last turn.
This is another high-speed freeway run. Remember there’s a turn inside the tunnel that can take you by surprise, so stay in the middle of the roadway. Continue all the way to South Port as fast as you can.
The off-ramp to South Port has some tight turns, so slow down as you enter them. The first part of the race through this area is fast and straight. However, slow down for that first turn to the right since it can take you by surprise as you approach at high speed. Now you have several turns as you make your way toward the on-ramp back onto the freeway. There are lots of cops in South Port, but you’ll likely lose them quickly.
Another freeway section lets you show what your car can really do. It’s straight all the way to the next exit. Your main concern is traffic. Compared to how fast you’re driving, those cars might as well be standing still. Don’t hit them or you will crash.
The off-ramp that leads to Franklin Terrace has several turns, so slow down as you take them. Once you get onto the city streets, hit the gas—there’s only one turn that you can take at high speed. Before you know it, you’ll be taking an on-ramp back onto a freeway.
You must take a ramp to get onto the freeway to Burnwood. You can speed along this ramp, but must slow down as you make the turn to the right in the middle. As soon as you get around it, hit the gas and don’t slow down until you reach Burnwood.
The off-ramp at Burnwood is a 270-degree turn to the right with a tight right turn onto a main road at the end. Accelerate once again. There’s another tight turn to the right in the middle of this leg, but by letting off the throttle as you approach and powersliding around it, you can then punch it to get to the finish line. Watch out for a cop that likes to pull out in front of you near the end. You don’t want to crash with the finish so close.
