You’re starting to earn some Rep in Ventura Bay. A racer by the name of Bryn wants a shot at you. While you can race on the freeway, how can you handle a sprint through hilly turns on narrower roads? This time, you’re racing from Franklin Terrace to El Ray—just you and Bryn—so keep him in your rear-view mirror.
Objective: Race to the finish line in a point to point sprint race. First one there wins.
The first part of this race has you entering a split tunnel on the left side, so you’re going against oncoming traffic. However, part way through, you move to the right side of the tunnel. Overall, this section is fairly straight with some shallow turns. Keep your speed up and mainly watch for traffic. This includes cop cars that might try to pull out in front of you.
Your first real turn comes here. While it is wide, you approach it at full speed. It’s easy to try to take it without slowing down. However, if you don’t, you’ll run into a wall or not make the turn. Even letting up on the accelerator shifts the weight of the car a bit to your front wheels and allows you to make the turn.
The next turn is 90 degrees to the left, so slow down here. The road onto which you are turning is split and you want to go on the right side, so don’t take it too tight on the exit. Instead, make it a bit wider to avoid the center divider.
As you start climbing up into the hills, the road straightens out for a while. This is where horses matter. Get up to your top speed and hold it. There are a couple of long, wide turns that you can take at speed. If you feel like you’re losing control, just let up on the accelerator and then hit it as you exit. Use the full width of the road on these turns to maintain your velocity.
Next, you hit another couple of turns. The first to the right is wide, but slow down a bit and try to stay on the inside on the right. The next turn is to the left and a bit tighter. By slowing down on the first turn, you’re in a better position to enter the second one. Enter it on the outside, then turn to the inside. If you’re going too fast, you may need to powerslide to maintain control. The key is to try to take these turns as fast as possible without losing control. Then hit the gas as you exit to get your speed back up.
The final turn is 90 degrees to the right. Enter it on the inside on the right and powerslide around—keeping the throttle floored so you can race out of the turn and get to the finish line before Bryn. This last turn can make or break you and mean the difference between first and second.
