Magnus Walker is impressed with your driving. Since you passed his last run, he has sent you another one. This time, he has you racing around the streets of South Pier.
Some of these are narrow and this run not only requires high speeds, but also control around several of the tight turns. Make sure your car is tuned for grip on this one. You don’t want to be sliding around like a drifter here. Spike joins you on this run.
Objective: Beat Magnus Walker’s time of 1:41 as you race from start to finish.
You have to cover three miles in two minutes. That requires an average speed of 90 mph. No freeway driving here. After you make the initial turn at the start, punch it. You have just shy of a half-mile run with only mild turns. The faster you can take this section, the more time you give yourself for the tougher turns later on.
Slow down to maintain control as you get to the first main turn, which is wide and to the left. While it may appear easy on the mini-map, you must use caution when you drive it. The road is divided and, as it goes under the freeway, there are large supports that can cause a nasty crash if you hit them. Maintain control. As you get out from under the freeway and begin to exit the turn, put the pedal to the metal and get back up to speed.
This part of the run is all about speed. You have over a mile of relatively straight road that takes you from one end of South Port to the other. Your main concern here is traffic. There are trucks and cars traveling slowly through this area and the road narrows near the warehouses. Look ahead and plan how you will get around them since hitting them while driving at high speed results in a crash—and lost time.
Now you get to the part of the run with several turns. Luckily, the streets are wide here. The first turn to the left is the trickiest because you hit it at the end of your speed run.
Let up on the gas and even tap the breaks to slow down and take this turn. Then keep going and take the next left turn. For the right and then left turn combo, enter the right wide and exit on the inside, then enter on the inside and exit wide on the left turn. Race to the intersection and powerslide around to make this right turn.
As you follow the gentle turn to the right here, watch out for the supports as the road goes under the freeway. At the end, you have a tight turn to the left. Let up on the gas before you enter and take it under control.
For the last section of the run, pick up as much a speed as you can during the straightaway, then powerslide around the turn to the right. Stay in control because you have an immediate turn to the left. The slide will have bled off enough speed that it’s an easy turn. Then punch it to reach the finish. Watch out for a cop car around here that may try to cut you off. You don’t want to crash within sight of the finish line!
