When you begin the game, you trade in your old ride and purchase a new vehicle from Travis at the garage. You have your choice of three different cars. Once you make your decision, you hand Travis a wad of cash and he gives you the keys.
You don’t get to work on your car right away. Instead, you take a drive to the diner and meet up with your crew. Then you head right back to the garage. That’s when you can start tinkering with your new toy.
You start off with some money, so you might as well spend it. There are several categories for upgrading and tuning your car. Performance Customization consists of adding or upgrading the parts of your car, such as the engine block, air filter, tires, clutch, etc. Handling Tuning lets you tune your car to make it tighter or looser, depending on whether you want to race or drift. It also allows you to adjust other items as you purchase and install them. Paint & Wrap is where you can choose the color and finish for your car, as well as apply decals to create your own look. Continue on in Visual Customization where you can change out hoods, bumpers, mirrors, and more. Finally, check your Parts Inbox for items you’ve earned or won.
