To pick up this quest, see Hubb near the main entrance to King’s Landing. His friend Bethany is in trouble, and only a lord can aid her because the trouble stems from the ill intentions of another noble.
Objective Point B
Bethany lives in the western part of Flea Bottom. When you find her, she is in the middle of a heated conversation with her “cousin,” a burly fellow with a foul tongue. She tells you that she’s in love with a nobleman, Ser Gyles of House Langward, but he hasn’t called on her for some time. She fears that Ser Gyles’s family has kept him from her because of her common lineage. You agree to speak with Ser Gyles on her behalf.
Go And Find Ser Gyles Langward And Explain To Him Bethany’s Predicament.
Objective Point C
When you speak with Ser Gyles in the noble section of King’s Landing, you discover that all is not as it seems: Ser Gyles is getting married and Bethany is one of the girls from Chataya’s; he had a good time with her, but now that he’s betrothed, Gyles can’t be seen with Bethany no matter how much he cares about her. If you want to know more about the story, tell Gyles you’ll look into the matter further.
Ask Chataya What She Knows About Bethany.
Objective Point D
Speak with Chataya in the brothel. She fills in more of the story: Bethany was indeed one of her girls, but she left and owed Chataya a lot of money. She would like either the money or the girl back.
Go To Bethany’s Bedchamber To Look For Clues.
Chataya lets you search Bethany’s old room upstairs in the brothel. Check the side table for a Crumpled Letter in Ser Gyles’s hand that explains he is not coming back. It seems Bethany has lied about events and that Ser Gyles’s tellings are more in line with the truth. Speak with Chataya on your way back out and she’ll give you a little more of the sordid tale.
Inform Ser Gyles Of Your Conclusions.
Objective Point E
Now head back to Ser Gyles’s house and speak with him. It turns out that he, too, owes Chataya money; this might be one of the reasons why he didn’t return to visit Bethany. Regardless of whether you get him to take responsibility for his actions, the two of you will set off for Bethany’s.
Meet Up With Ser Gyles On The Way To Flea Bottom And Talk To Bethany.
Objective Point F
Meet Ser Gyles at the top of the alleyways that lead down into Flea Bottom. It’s time to confront Bethany once and for all. It’s obvious from the start of the conversation that Bethany doesn’t have any love for Gyles and that’s she’s using the child as an excuse for money. Even so, she is pregnant and is asking for child support. You can choose to side with Bethany or against her. If you side with her, Gyles pays up. If you side with Gyles, Bethany shouts for her cousin and you get ambushed by several men.
Go Back To Chataya’s To Make Sure That Everything Is In Order OR Inform Chataya Of Bethany’s Refusal To Return To The Brothel.
Objective Point G
Depending on who you sided with, Bethany may or may not get her money and she may or may not return to Chataya’s. If you side with Bethany, she gives you the Maiden statuette as a reward for helping her out. If you sided with Gyles, you can visit Bethany back at the brothel; she has reformed a bit and gives you the Maiden statuette to thank you for trying to help her.
