Chapter 5: Beauty and the Beast - Mole’s Town Tunnels

Mole’s Town Tunnels

Take Ser Godric To The Brothel To Find The Woman He’s Looking For

Objective Point A

You take Ser Godric inside and speak with the madam of the brothel, Sybelle. At first she’s reluctant to give up her secrets, but through either threats or reason, you convince her that it’s in the best interest of the young woman that you locate her immediately. Sybelle says the young woman, Jeyne Greystone, hides in one of the downstairs rooms.

Find The Young Woman Staying In The Basement

Objective Point B

Take the stairs down below and turn left. Follow the passage until you reach Jeyne’s room (check the map for the scroll icon if you get turned around). She’s not in her room. However, check the corner for a trinket with Jeyne’s perfume still fresh on it. You can use the perfume scent to track Jeyne.

Track The Woman Down While The Scent Is Still Fresh

Objective Point C

Switch to dog mode and track Jeyne’s yellow scent floating in the air. It leads out into the hallways and west. Follow the scent back up the stairs to the common room on the first floor.

Objective Point D

In the common room, you can chat up Patrek and Walder if you like. They will each tell you their tales of how they ended up taking the black. It’s a nice diversion if you want to take the time from your main quest, and you earn the King Beyond the Wall Codex entry if you listen to your brothers’ stories of woe.

Objective Point E

The scent trail weaves through the kitchen; however, the cook doesn’t like dogs wandering into his work space. If you break the red threat circle around the cook, he kicks you out. You can either wait until he moves to the fire in the back of the room and sneak past him, or switch back to Mors and let him have a little chat with the cook. Take the door on the kitchen’s far side to continue with the hunt.

Objective Point F

Walk down the short corridor and turn left. Go down the stairs and into the small kitchen storeroom. There’s a trapdoor in the corner that leads to the next area. However, if you sniff the air for treasure, you’ll discover some hidden loot in the other corner.

Objective Point A

Turn left and follow the scent down the tunnel until you reach the next intersection. Turn left again and continue to track the yellow trail.

Objective Point B

Stop when you see a large crowd with an aggressive threat circle that takes up the whole tunnel. Dog can’t slip through here undetected; the men don’t like dogs and will kick you back each time you try. Instead, switch back to Mors, walk through the men to the far side, and then switch back to dog mode when you’re out of the hostility zone.

Objective Point C

Cut through a series of rooms as the trail winds south. It can get confusing as you move between the rooms, so note which door you entered and make sure you don’t double back by accident and exit through the entrance door.

Objective Point D

Take a moment to follow a treasure scent in the next big intersection. You’ll be rewarded with the Neck Ring of the First Men (+1 Luck) for your troubles.

Objective Point E

When you see the two townsfolk talking about a frightened girl, look for the trail to disappear under the door on the left. Open the door, cut through the room, and exit into the corridor on the far side.

Objective Point F

You’ve finally found Jeyne when you reach the wooden door next to the tattered cloth on the nearby wall. Open the door and speak with the young woman inside.

As you talk with Jeyne, you realize that she was the woman Poddy attacked in the Gift. Because your dog saved her, she’s willing to trust you. However, Jeyne doesn’t trust Ser Godric. She met with the real Ser Godric before she came north, and she fingers him as an imposter.

Treason! Strike Down Godric Before Reinforcements Arrive

Ser Godric attacks as soon as his disguise is up. Wearing heavy armor and wielding an impressive two-handed sword, Godric is one tough opponent. In the small room, you won’t have much space to escape his weapon; you’ll have to go toe-to-toe with him and should rely on blunt weapons as much as possible. Use your dog’s abilities to distract him during crucial parts of the battle, and if you stocked up on any health flasks before you left Castle Black, you might want to chug one or two during this fight. Fortunately, you only have to cut him down to half his health to make him yield.

When you beat Godric, he backs off and lets his lackeys take you on. You can’t stop him from escaping, so concentrate on staying alive against Godric’s men. The battle picks up where you left off with Godric, which means you’ll be at reduced health and energy as Godric’s men arrive. Switch to perforating weapons and take down one of the men as your dog engages the other. A third enemy in heavy armor joins the fight late; use similar tactics to your fight with Godric to slay him.

Escape This Trap As Soon As You Can

Objective Point G

After the battle, Jeyne thanks you for saving her life. You explain that it’s in her best interest to return to Castle Black, and the two of you make a quick exit topside through the nearby door before more of Godric’s men find you in the room.
