If you play through the game’s end as Alester and choose the dialogue option “I will offer him to the queen in return for Riverspring,” when Varys brings Jeyne’s child to the throne room, you unlock Alester’s first epilogue. Queen Cersei enters the throne room looking for the child she was promised and you deliver him to her.
You exchange the child’s life for your kingdom. Except, it’s not what you had imagined. The kingdom is failing, and your conscience eats away at you. So many lives have been lost. Was the cost worth it?
In your despair, you return to your room. You stand in front of the fire, the fire of your god R’hllor, with those thoughts lying heavy on your shoulders and a noose hanging behind you waiting for your neck.
