Game of Thrones eGuide Walkthrough Chapter 12: Fight Fire with Fire

Chapter 12: Fight Fire with Fire - Riverspring Tunnels

Riverspring Tunnels

Use The Secret Passages Under Riverspring To Reach The Dungeons Where The Guards Are Being Held.

Objective Point A

Rather than kill you quickly, Valarr decides to seal you in a sarcophagus deep below in the Riverspring tunnels amid the tombs of your forefathers. You would be dead if not for the resourceful Ryman, who, after having escaped the massacre in the throne room, slips down into the tunnels to free you. Ryman tells you that the remainder of his men are locked in the dungeons, and you make a plan to rescue them.

Objective Point B

Enemies patrol the tombs, so be careful as you advance. You’ll likely attract attention at the first intersection. As with most of your fights side by side with Ryman, let the elder warrior engage and keep the majority of enemies focused on him while you assist with stuns and damage. If you take the first enemy patrol by surprise, they should go down easily.

Objective Point C

Engage the next set of guards in front of the secret passage wall. Take care of them before you proceed to the far end of the corridor and investigate.

Objective Point D

Look for the shimmering in the air at the corridor’s end. It appears to be a normal wall; however, if you use the Vision of R’hllor here, you reveal a secret passage that leads from the tomb area to the prisoner area. Pull the lever behind the secret passage to open the second door and enter the prison.

Objective Point E

A large enemy group guards the prisoners on the far end of the prison. Initiate combat with a ranged attack and send Ryman charging into their midst. Pick off as many as you can at range, then switch to your melee weapon and match it against the appropriate armor type for maximum damage. The prisoner area is big; if enemies start to swarm you, stun them and find a more advantageous location to renew your assault. With some hard work, you can kill all the guards and look for the keys to open the prison cells.

Find The Keys To The Dungeons And Free The Guards That Valarr Had Locked In There.

Objective Point F

Recover the keys from the table in the northwest corner and release the Riverspring soldiers. They will join up with you for the assault later against the castle.

Free Greydon And His Men. The Cells Hold Other Prisoners, Some Of Whom You Put In There Yourself. They Could Be Of Use To You.

Objective Point G

If you threw anyone in the dungeons previously during the riots, you have a choice of releasing them now. They will all fight for you, though some take more convincing than others. However, be wary that any released prisoners won't be available for the "New Blood" recruitment quest later (except Mellara). So leave them rotting in their jail if you wan to get the recruitment achievement.

Infiltrate Valarr’s Army And Study Their Defenses, And Find A Way To Open The Gates For Ryman And His Men.

Objective Point H

While Ryman and his men ready for an assault on the castle, you change into the armor and helmet of a guard so that you can infiltrate the castle defenses, gauge the enemy’s strength, and eventually open the gates for Ryman and his men. They leave you now, and you’re on your own again.

Objective Point I

One final group patrols the tunnels between the prison and the door to Riverspring Castle. You can try talking your way through, but the guards aren’t falling for your bluff. When combat ensues, stun them immediately so they don’t overwhelm you, then target the weaker one with medium armor and kill him first. Stun or knock down one of the two remaining guards, switch to a blunt weapon, and deal lethal damage to the second enemy as quickly as possible. If you can kill the second one before the final guard hacks away at you, the battle should go your way.

Objective Point J

Find the castle door and exit the tunnels. You’ve left the dangerous enemies of the tunnels behind for even more dangerous foes holding the castle.
