Valarr Is In Town, And He Plans To Wed Your Sister Later Today. Find Maester Harwyn At The Docks And Finalize Your Plan.
Objective Point A
After fleeing Castlewood, you cross through the swamps to reach Riverspring. Mors confronts Alester on what happened to his family. Alester confesses that he was unable to protect them and that it must have been brigands who slaughtered Mors’s wife and daughter while Alester was attending to other matters of the kingdom.
Once you return to Riverspring, Ryman Sarwyck meets up with you a few paces down the main street. He updates you on the current situation: Valarr and his Bloodseekers have taken over the town, and affairs have deteriorated into misery and chaos. Anyone who defies Valarr is put to the sword.
As you speak with Ryman, Bloodseekers stumble upon you. They have strict orders from Valarr to kill Alester on sight. A battle erupts in the streets. With Ryman’s help, rip through the Bloodseekers without mercy. Alternate stuns and potent damage-dealing abilities between Mors and Alester to keep off balance at all times.
Objective Point B
Ryman advises you to find Harwyn on the docks and ask him to aid in the plan to recapture Riverspring. Set off for Harwyn in the north while Ryman searches the city for more soldiers loyal to your cause. All is eerily quiet as you find Harwyn alone on the docks. He explains that Valarr is to wed Elyana before the day ends, so time is of the essence. You ask Harwyn to arrange a secret meeting with Elyana outside the castle so you can involve her in your plans.
Side Quest: Safer Streets
Harwyn asks you to clean up the streets in Riverspring before you confront Valarr. Comb the city for Bloodseeker activity and quell the deeds by slaying the perpetrators. You can complete this side quest only while in Riverspring and before you trigger the events in the castle. For more details on all the Bloodseeker encounters and completing the quest, see the “Side Quests” chapter.
Ask Your Sister, Elyana, For Support
Objective Point C
Speak with Elyana in front of the waterwheel. If you are nice to her while asking for her help, she will side with you later in the courtyard and convince Wex to back down. If you’re dismissive with Elyana, she will not appear in the courtyard and you’ll have to fight Wex’s men to enter the castle.
Go Back To Harwyn And Await Ryman’s Arrival
Objective Point D
Return to Harwyn and wait for Ryman to arrive. The Bloodseekers beat him to you, and a group of Valarr’s men challenge you. Before the first sword unsheathes, Ryman and his men show up. You can either let them run and warn Valarr of your arrival (which won’t change events) or silence them with a quick battle.
If you choose to silence the Bloodseekers, break out your weapons and attack. There are many bodies on the tight dock landings. Switch to melee weapons and stun often so that your side gets in more attacks. Even though the enemies are heavily armored, your numbers should prevail.
Clear A Path To The Castle
Objective Point E
Confront the Bloodseekers at the main castle gate. It’s a smaller battle if you eliminated all the Bloodseekers during the “Safer Streets” side quest; if not, you’ll need to rely heavily on Ryman and his men to keep the odds even.
Switch to blunt weapons against most of your enemies, including the Bloodseeker leader at the gate. Cut down the weaker enemies first, then converge with numbers on the stronger, more heavily armored foes. You may not have Dog’s immobilizing tactics, but Mors’s stun and damage-dealing abilities still complement Alester’s combat maneuvers well. After a fierce battle, the gate will eventually be yours. Retrieve the Guardian Helm from the fallen Bloodseeker leader and enter the courtyard.
