Riverspring Castle
Objective Point A
Meet Elyana in the Riverspring throne room. She’s happy to see you, but you shatter that joy when you explain that your brother Gawen is dead, and by Valarr’s orders. Elyana doesn’t know where your father may have hidden the secret documents, but she advises talking to Harwyn about the whole affair.
Side Quest: Rings and Chains
After you speak with Elyana in the throne room, you get a sense that something is wrong. If you want to get involved with the “Rings and Chains” side quest, see Elyana in the courtyard. She has made a deal with the Roxton family to gain money to help pay Riverspring’s debts, but she can’t repay them yet, and they’re pressing the matter. For more details on the political intrigue and completing the quest, see the “Side Quests” chapter.
Maester Harwyn might know something about your father’s documents
Objective Point B
You find Harwyn in the dining room. When you tell him of Valarr’s treachery, he relates the tale of your father’s last day and his argument that led to disinheriting Gawen.
Gawen Is Unworthy Of The Title Of Lord! Return To Your Office And Make Good On Your Threat!
Objective Point C
For a few minutes, you take over as Raynald Sarwyck during his final encounter with Gawen. Walk up the stairs out of the dining room and climb to the office on the first floor. You interrupt Gawen going through the office papers; he says that he knows about the brotherhood between Raynald and Arwood and that he just wants to help. Frustrated with Gawen’s previous failures, you disinherit your youngest son and banish him from the castle.
The Object Of Your Search Is Likely To Be Concealed In The Secret Passage Leading From Your Father’s Office. Find A Way To Access It
Objective Point D
Harwyn finishes telling you the sad tale and leaves you to your search. Scour your father’s office thoroughly. There are a few red herrings that fail to lead to clues, but don’t give up hope.
Objective Point E
Look in the back corner, and you’ll spy a stone square that’s different from the wall face. You’ll see the familiar wavy heat lines that signal a secret item, and if you use the Vision of R’hllor, you can access a secret door behind the desk. The secret door requires seven special keys to open it. Read the Enigma of the Keys letter, which provides a riddle to locating each of the seven keys.
Objective Point F
The first key is in the office. Look for another wavy pattern in the air next to the candle holder on the eastern wall. Use the Vision of R’hllor to open a secret passage into a small alcove. Inside you’ll find the Father’s Key and Raynald Sarwyck’s Collar special item.
Objective Point G
Leave the office and head out to the hallway that runs along the balcony overlooking the ground floor. Stand in front of the statue of a warrior in the northwest corner. Use the Vision of R’hllor to uncover the Warrior’s Key.
Objective Point H
Search the first bedroom in the western section of the first floor. Use the Vision of R’hllor in the center of the room to expose the Stranger’s Key hidden in the side cabinet.
Objective Point I
Use the Vision of R’hllor in the second bedroom in the western section of the first floor. You’ll find the Maiden’s Key hidden in front of the bed.
Objective Point J
Proceed north and use the Vision of R’hllor in the third bedroom. The Mother’s Key appears in a fruit platter on a small side table to the bed’s left. You can easily miss it if you don’t search carefully.
Objective Point K
Travel downstairs and seek out Harwyn. If you use the Vision of R’hllor in Harwyn’s room, the Smith Key appears in the room’s fireplace.
Objective Point L
The final key, the Crone’s Key, is located in the Riverspring throne. Use your Vision of R’hllor power to uncover it. Return to the secret door behind the desk in your father’s office. With all seven keys, the door now opens and you have access to the tunnels under Riverspring.
