King’s Landing
Find Harwyn At The Agreed-upon Location, Behind Jaremy’s Pottery Shop.
Objective Point A
As soon as you arrive in King’s Landing, you’re greeted by the city guard at the gate. The Red Cloak leader questions you while his Gold Cloak brethren take positions around you. No matter if you give your true names or not, the Red Cloak leader won’t be fooled, and you have a choice: pay the bribe to have the guards look the other way as you enter the city or fight them.
If you choose to fight them, expect heavy resistance. The Red Cloak is tougher than the standard Gold Cloak, and there are more of them than you. Alternate stuns between Alester and Mors, and sic Dog on a third foe to temporarily incapacitate him. Switch to perforating weapons for most of the Gold Cloaks, and use blunt weapons against the Red Cloak.
Objective Point B
If you saved either of the Reapers earlier in your King’s Landing adventures (or both), you will find them confronted by the city guard in front of the marketplace. If you only spared Axe, he and a henchman will be there. If you saved only Orys, he and a henchman will be there. If you helped both Axe and Orys earlier, the two of them will fight with you against the city guards and join your party. In this case, you outnumber the city guards, so they should perish without too much pain on your parts.
Pick Up Harwyn’s Trail In King’s Landing Or Speak With Falena To Find Out That Varys Has Taken Harwyn Somewhere In The Rich Quarter Of King’s Landing.
Objective Point C
When you finally get to the agreed-upon meeting place at the potter shop, Harwyn isn’t there. You have a choice to track him down: Dog can follow his scent trail, or you can speak with Falena, who stands waiting in the side alley next to the shop.
Speaking with Falena is the easier path. If you are nice to her, she will tell you that Varys intercepted Harwyn and brought him to a new location in King’s Landing. The new location is marked on your map, which makes finding Harwyn and Varys simple. If you don’t speak with Falena or are dismissive in your talks, she won’t reveal much of anything and you’ll have to track down Harwyn through his scent.
Go Meet Harwyn.
Objective Point D
The city guards patrol the streets. You can sneak around and avoid getting spotted to reach your destinations, or you can take the patrols one at a time. As you kill patrols, it will be easier to navigate the city without fear of unwanted combat.
Book Watch: Starks vs. Lannisters
At this point in our story, Alester’s and Mors’s quest for vengeance against Valarr interweaves closely with the major events from the novel. We hear about King Robert’s death, and when Alester and Mors arrive in King’s Landing, they see the bloodshed in the streets firsthand, as Stark guards have been cut down by the city watch loyal to Queen Cersei and the Lannisters. Later, while Eddard Stark gives his final confession to the lords and ladies of the Crown outside, you will find your way inside to an unguarded Red Keep throne room.
Objective Point E
Varys tells you that he had to bring Harwyn here for safety reasons and that he has spread rumors around that you will deliver Jeyne’s baby to the queen in the throne room. He hopes that Valarr will try to intercept you there, and you can then exact your vengeance on the murderer. First, though, you need to acquire a weapon made from Valyrian steel; it’s the only material capable of harming the shadows that serve Valarr.
Without A Weapon Made Of Valyrian steel, You Will Be Powerless Against Valarr’s Shadows. You Must Find One In The Town Before Confronting Him.
Objective Point F
Varys knows of one person in King’s Landing who owns a Valyrian steel weapon: your old friend Clement Buckler. Meet up with Clement and ask him nicely for the sword; he won’t give it to you, but it was worth a try.
Instead, you’ll have to fight him for it. Clement has a mean, two-handed swing that damages everyone around him. He can quickly kill multiple foes in melee. If you have a ranged weapon, back up and strike him repeatedly from safety while the Reapers or Dog keep him occupied. Alternately, Mors or Alester can go toe-to-toe with Clement and deliver as much damage as possible before his energy expires; then stun Clement, back out, and switch positions with your teammate. When you bring Clement’s health to zero, he will submit and hand you his special weapon.
Now You Have Something To Use When Confronting Valarr. Go Back To Varys To Proceed With Your Plan.
Objective Point G
Return to Varys when you have Clement’s Valyrian Steel Claymore. If your Stance relies on wielding a two-handed weapon and you like it as a sword, you’re all set and can proceed. If not, Varys explains how to reforge the weapon into something more useful. Seek out the blacksmith Roland in the marketplace. You can reforge the Valyrian Steel Claymore into a more appropriate one-handed weapon, a bow, a crossbow, or a different type of two-handed weapon.
Objective Point H
Return to Varys again. You debate the best course of action and ultimately decide to trust him to bring Jeyne’s son to you in the throne room after you’ve dealt with Valarr. Varys informs you of a secret route through the sewers and into Maegor’s Holdfast, where you can take the same path you took earlier to the secret door into the throne room.
There Is A Passage Linking The Sewers Of King’s Landing With Maegor’s Holdfast, Through Which You Can Infiltrate The Red Keep. Go To The Sewers To Find It.
Objective Point I
You’ve opened several entrances into the sewers by now. The closest entrance is likely near Lord Harlton’s old estate, but you can take any of the sewer access points around the city. Just be careful of the city watch on patrol as you head to the sewers.
